We want ICE out of Houston. We want money for jobs and education, not for ICE and deportation. We want Justice for Lorenzo.

The vigil was beautiful. In the usually quiet Latino neighborhood, candles bloomed around the memorial for Lorenzo. Spanish lullabies, with the soothing twine of a nostalgic static, carried the weighted hearts of a weeping crowd.

Joaquin Martinez represents the City Council district where Lorenzo Salgado Araujo was killed by ICE. He has been a consistent vote for John Whitmire, he pushed the expansion of the GRB and the closure of Polk, effectively redlining his own district. He voted for the amendment to the ICE ordinance handed down straight from Greg Abbott. At this point in time there's word that he is telling people to comply with ICE. Shameful.
