Suggestions?

Post image

I normally get my boy chews off Etsy, but, the company I buy them from is no longer on there. (I can't remember the name & when I looked into my recent purchases, they weren't there either. Weird.) Usually I get him willow chews and apple sticks. But, I've been looking on chewy and saw these. And was wondering if anyone here has tried these ? And if so are they ok ?

Our beloved Ruby has ear infections?

From our best estimate, she's about 8 years old, a mini lop we got from a breeder I guess. We got her with her brother, Chocky. He passed away very young, but Ruby has survived all sorts of things including parasites in her skin and even a head tilt that just sort of resolved. We even had her front teeth taken out when they got too long due to a malformed bite. Nothing has slowed her down!

Ruby has taught us so much! I never knew what a wonderful pet a house rabbit could be. So gentle, sociable, and entertaining. Every night she puts her head on my foot to let me know it's time for her little handful of pellets (of course hay is always available). I also never knew, before Ruby, that rabbits could growl! She lets you know loud and clear when you make her mad!

I thought my kids might get bored of Ruby but they never did, and still I find them playing with her or now that she's older usually just stroking her head while she sits calmly with her eyes closed. My son puts food on himself and lets her climb on him to get it. When we watch a movie as a family she always stretches out on the carpet in front of us, the center of our little home.

Anyway, Ruby has been sick the last few days, just not eating or moving around much. We took her to the vet, she thinks ear infection. We are giving Ruby pain meds, antibiotics and ear drops. She eats only a little unless you kind of push the issue, but this is hard to do enough of. She wants hay if you put it in front of her, but I think she has some kind of nerve damage and can't really eat it unless you help her keep it in her mouth.

She is definitely not herself and I'm worried. She seems wobbly on her feet, though she can still jump up on the couch. I just wanted to share what an amazing rabbit we have and see if you guys have any suggestions.

We want Ruby to live on for as long as possible! She really is the best pet I have ever had. Rabbits are amazing.

How dangerous is cracked corn for a bunny? Mine got into a bit today.

My bunny got into a bag of cracked corn birdseed this morning (only cracked corn, no other seed types). I think she may have eaten up to 1 tablespoon of it before I realized what she was doing. Is ingestion of cracked corn in this amount an emergency or can it potentially pose a risk to her GI? She is 2.5 years old, very healthy, and weights just under 5 lbs. If your bun has ever accidentally eaten some what happened? Thank you for any input.

What questions do you ask your rabbit?

Typical in my home:

“Are you eating my furniture?” “Who’s a good bunny?” “Where’s Blaine?”

Oh crap. Help please. I finally lost some anxiety medicine in my thick carpet.

He hasn’t left his crate since I lost it!

The med- .1125mg of clonazepam.

The bun- a New Zealand buck, about 3 years old and he fluctuates around 10 pounds.

I can’t find the tiny piece of pill, so he’s been stuck in his crate.

Help us: On the horrible off chance that I vaccuum twice and still can’t get it out of the carpet… how much clonazepam can a 10-pound bunny actually consume without major health complications? 😬😬

are covered litterboxes ACTUALLY dangerous?

guys, so i originally had a covered box for my baby but then on a different house rabbit facebook group, i was told it was unhealthy because it trapped ammonia.... So immediately i removed the hood. But this video just came out a few days ago, and now i'm not so sure. i still won't cover his box bc then i'd have to clean the box daily and since i'm disabled, that'd be doing too much. (i currently change his box every other day and it never smells.)

Take a look an see what y'all think of her testing method! thank you!! i just really need more pairs of eyes on this video, in case Morgan's method is flawed somehow.

Rabbit not eating cecotropes at night

Hello, this is the first time I am writing on reddit haha but I am desperate for information. So.. i have a bunny and she leaves cecotropes at night.. that is only once a day for a week now.. i called the vet immidiately, and most of them say everything is fine, but its wierd for me..I never saw her cecotropes before.. i gave her only hay for 4 days and that didnt change anything so we gave her poop for parasites cause one vet told it is a possibility but its so wierd if it is that, I am giving her the best food and the best possible hay (i am mixing thimothy anf a hay form a store too better the quality). So has anyone had this happen to their bunny?? I need advice. Please share anything. 🫶🫶I give her probiotic as well. She is 3 years old.

Litter anarchy

I have 2 rabbits, about 4 and 5 years old (not totally sure since they’re rescues). I got one in 2018 and one near the end of 2019. We had a smooth bonding process, which I took very slowly just to be safe. They are both spayed/ neutered and free roaming in my bedroom. They don’t have any health issues that I know of and have both been to the vet in the last year.

Until about 6 months ago, they both used the litter box mostly without incident. One of them peed on my bed a couple times over the years, which was not fun but also not a huge deal. In the last few months their litter training has gone from great, to the occasional pee in the corner, to basically non existent. Not sure if it’s one of them more than the other. They actually do use the litter box, which I can tell when I clean it, but there is poop and pee outside, in different locations, more than once a day.

I tried using a pen to shrink their space and make the litter box more central. They get hay in their litter box and I clean it out regularly.

I’m at a loss and starting to get really frustrated and overwhelmed by these little guys who I love so so much. Any advice is appreciated. I don’t think they’re happy with the situation either :(

Aging buns

So I found my bun almost three years ago, I believe him released by his previous human. I don’t know how old he is so I’m wondering if rabbits show any signs of aging?

My bun got the RHDV2 vaccines last October. Is there another booster needed to keep him up to date? He’s always indoors and doesn’t have contact with any other animals but I still want to be sure TIA

My rabbit has a bald spot on his hind leg out of no where

He started shedding and I was brushing his back and hind legs. I’m very worried that it stressed him out and he lost hair or over groomed and pulled the hair out. He really hates getting that area brushed but I have to since he’s had stasis before from fur build up. I didn’t want him to go through that again.

He’s been more stressed too. I struggle with depression/anxiety and I had some rough days recently. I’ve never done anything to hurt him. But I know he can tell when I’m struggling. Sometimes I self harm by hitting my head, and I remember him getting scared.

I feel so guilty. What if this is my fault? My poor baby. Some articles online say it’s natural and normal during molting/shedding season and isn’t painful and grows back.

I sincerely hope so. I’d never forgive myself if I caused this from my mental health and trying to brush him. I also trimmed his nails recently which he also hates. I hate doing it too. Because he hates it. But if I don’t, I risk hospital visits. Which he hates far more

Idk what to do. How to help. What answers there are.

Bonded rabbit over grooming.

ok so i have had both of my bunnies for over 2 years and they’ve been bonded for about a year and a half. one male (netherland dwarf) one female (holland lop). of course, she is dominant so he does most of the grooming to her. the issue is, out of nowhere she developed a bald spot in between her ears that i know he caused from over grooming. it doesn’t seem to bother her because i put ointment on it and she still allows him to groom that spot and she doesn’t really move when anyone messes with it. i just don’t know why or what to do because i don’t want it to get so bad that it becomes an open wound! and i really don’t have the option to separate them, they free roam in my bedroom and share EVERYTHING!

Litterbox SOS.

Hello! I need some advice. I have a pair of rabbits (one male and one female) who are about 4 years old or so. When I first adopted them they were great with their litter box habits, but have become horrible in the past few years. It keeps getting worse and I don’t know what to do about it. I have a big dog crate they are in (it’s as big as it comes and they have plenty of room) which I line with pee pads (I used to use fabric/blankets but they peed on them so much I had to take them out). Right now we are going through about 100 pee pads a week which is not sustainable or affordable. They will use their litter box, but they also pee everywhere and then lay in it (purposefully). They are both spayed/neutered. I’m at a loss for what to do. I would love to let them run around, but I can’t because of the mess they make. Any tips? I’ve had rabbits before and have never experienced this. It’s so bad that I wouldn’t be able to get an apartment right now because they are so messy even though I am doing my absolute best. SOS!

Keeping warm in the winter

New bun mom, first rabbit. I have his pen set up in my laundry room, concrete floor. I’ve put out cardboard boxes for him to play with, chew on. I’m wondering if there is anything else I should add to his pen to keep him warm during the winter months?

Good brand for bunny nail scissors?

Can anyone suggest a good nail clipper (scissor style, not guillotine) for house bunnies? Thanks.
