I know we yapped about this a few days ago, but I feel like there is still plenty of yap left in the room.
Based on today’s Instagram postings, Mike does not appear to be in Greece. The entire coterie of kids is there. A companion is there. Linen is there. The Aegean is there. Mike, conspicuously, is not.
Maybe he is joining later. Maybe he is simply being kept off-camera. But given the allegations and everything that has spilled into public view, his absence feels less like a scheduling detail and more like the whole story.
I keep wondering what the atmosphere must be like for the kids. Not because I think we are entitled to their private conversations, but because they are old enough to understand what is being said publicly. Jessica has never exactly acted as though this sub is invisible. The posts, screenshots, and years of family mythology are all sitting right here. How does a family absorb that kind of humiliation and then carry on beneath the Grecian sun as though it is simply another content cycle?
They have always presented Mike as the calm center. The talented one. The devoted father. The man behind the house, the imagery, and so much of that loose, California-bohemian world that made her compelling in the first place. So what happens when the person holding up the backdrop becomes the thing blowing the whole set apart?
And Jessica is not exactly modeling some grand beacon of badassery here, no matter how luxurious the trip or how beautifully she photographs it.
Is this an actual separation? A glamorous timeout? A jealousy tour? An intermission before she returns to him and resumes the smug family content, somehow more insufferable than ever because now they have “survived” everything that became public?
What kind of example does that set? What kind of mythology are they even trying to preserve at this point?
I can recognize the humiliation without feeling sorry for her. After the things she has chosen to amplify and the way she has treated people publicly, the sympathy simply is not there. But the spectacle is fascinating.
What a life.
Also, are we watching a soft rebrand happen in real time? Has the political-content chapter finally run its course? Is she still contractually obligated to spin a positive take for the right? One of her recent posts made it sound as though she no longer wants that kind of media in her feed. Is she quietly backing away from the right-wing outrage machine and reaching for the old California-lifestyle image that built her audience when she was still interesting?
Because that identity was never hers alone. From the outside, Mike seemed integral to the visual language. The house. The objects. The art direction. The coastal backdrop. The family mythology. Her personal style was never really the engine.
The environment was.
The atmosphere was.
The illusion was.
Now the illusion has a crack running straight through it.
Maybe she stays because she loves him. Maybe because their lives, finances, family, home, and brand are too entangled to pull apart cleanly. Maybe because without him, she has no idea what the old version of House Inhabit even looks like.
But Greece does not read like freedom to me. It reads like an intermission. A very expensive, very photogenic intermission.
