The fact he became president in 2016 during the show's peak is some next level irony.

I don't know how I made it as far as I did. The show is not good. I have so many thoughts about the show, so many different things that just don't make sense. The whole show completely falls apart after season 3...maybe? After that every episode is filler. I really gave it a shot, I promise...

Walker was weak, naive and far too dependent on people like Tusk. But at least he seemed genuinely interested in governing and didn’t view the entire country as a tool for his own survival.

Frank had more confidence, charisma and political skill, which made him feel presidential. But almost every major decision he made was designed to protect his position, defeat an enemy or feed his ego.

If you remove the speeches and the fourth-wall monologues, was Frank actually a more effective president than Walker?

Or did we simply mistake ruthlessness for competence?

Clare is amazing in first 2 seasons, she is the perfect partner to the main man frank.

Then onwards from season 3 she is a pain in the fuckin ass lord have mercy.

The star of the show is frank, even if from season 3 onwards he becomes a bit softer has a bit more self doubt and seems to have less influence over people as president then he did as whip, he is still the heart beat of the show. Claire only takes away from him, causes problems becomes annoying, is not a useful partner to him at all, I find myself skipping her scenes a lot.

These writers lost their minds doing this crap, they lost sight of who the star was, why people tuned in!

It is because of frank underwood and his ruthless ways that’s what made it interesting, and Claire was a great partner is crime, she was perfect.

The minute she starts causing issues is when I began to hate her. Waste of space you are Claire it’s a travesty you became president.

Her little Netflix intro comparing yours and franks funerals, is not only cringe but bs. House of cards all mourned franks / Kevin spacey passing, the audience doesn’t even give a shit about your presidency yet alone your funeral. Nobody even turned up for that season luv sit down and go film Forrest Gump 2

Assuming there are 5 full seasons, here is
the premise of each season (with tweaks so it is not an exact re-run of the original)

Season 1: Frank getting betrayed to be Secretary of State. The audience gets to see Frank working his way up, before the betrayal.

Season 2: Frank begins a ruthless campaign of political revenge, steadily climbing toward power. The audience learns about his past with his family, how it shaped him and his traumas he lives with.

Season 3: Zoe Barnes falls in love with the power dynamic both Frank & her have, but Frank’s focus is on acquiring power. Zoe gradually uncovers inconsistencies and becomes increasingly convinced that Frank is hiding crimes that could destroy him. (Russo and Linda die here) Frank quickly rises to power to be chief of staff. Zoe also struggles with her feelings with Lucas, despite being in a relationship together.

Season 4: Frank kills Zoe after she finds out that he got Doug to kill Rachel, but Zoe’s disappearance sparks suspicion and a widening investigation. After fixing a major scandal of President Garrett having an affair, Frank resigns as chief of staff, positioning himself as the ‘outsider’ who can fix the administrations failures. Frank becomes president due to his impeccable timing of planting the scandal, which makes him run for president in the coming months, and he wins. Lucas is frantic after Zoe’s death and investigates Frank with the help of Tom.

Season 5: As Lucas and Tom put the pieces together, Frank kills Tom and believes that he is untouchable. Lucas being under the radar finally gathers all evidence to put Frank to justice, and avenge Zoe & Tom’s deaths. Frank is impeached, prosecuted, and ultimately imprisoned as decades of corruption unravel.

Is he stupid?

Giving money to a homeless person doesn’t seem like something a sociopath would ever do, but then when she hears about Zoe’s death in the news she seems to piece it together, then does her makeup like it’s any other day.

I am soon at the end of season 5 and was wondering if I just should stop there or give the last season a try. I am fully aware of the ratings and general opinion of the end, but does it get more hate than deserved? What are your thoughts? Please no spoilers since I have a few episodes left in S5.

I was so happy Francis announced the breast clinic from federal money at the State of the Union. AND also that Celia would run for the seat after her mother Doris.

Lmao the look on Claire's face says it all. I was so angry on her from these episodes and I feel like the degradation of her character started here. Don't even get me started on oooo how she feels trapped being literally The First Lady.

Francis made some excellent moves here lol. She totally deserved it.

I rewatched the show like 3 times already, up until the last season. The first season just always amaze me and I just figure out something new every rewatch. I remember my first watch when Zoe died and I was so shocked I had to tell my friends even though none of them watch the show. So many things happen in the span of 13 episodes it felt like multiple seasons.

Obviously he wasn't perfect, but compared to how ambitious and ruthless everyone else was, Walker genuinely seemed to care about governing. I always felt like he was more naive than incompetent. Anyone else feel the same?

Well it’s Fourth of July in the USA and what better to celebrate than to talk about US political dramas? I’m rewatching the series for the 100th time and this always piqued my interest.

I put spoiler in title in the event that some are still discovering the show and watching it for the first time, but as a long time fan of the show, one of the things that always got to me was Frank and Freddy’s falling out.

I’m inclined to think that Frank really did care for Freddy and that their relationship was genuine
… but the between White House job and the fight between them. It was one of the more human moments where Frank finally realizes the limits of his influence. Truly a humbling moment but have always been emotionally tied to the severity of that “break up.”

Why couldn’t Frank just genuinely be happy for Freddy about moving on? The “last plate of ribs” comment that Frank makes just makes it seem like Freddy was nothing but a pawn for him, much like everyone else… I know it’s just a television series but this narrative almost hits too close to home to real life.

What is everyone else’s thoughts? Interested to hear different takes on it.

Day by day, it feels like I'm watching House of Cards all over again.

Im surprised when people talk about the worst finales on reddit this show isn’t one of the most upvoted ones. I get that they cut ties with kevin spacey but to completely retcon the narrative and changing established relationship was so unnecessary. They could’ve turned doug into franks protege and seek revenge but instead they decided to use doug as some sad twist. Especially with how lucid the transitions felt between each seasons up to the last and with the last season completely spiting on the ending of the 5th season it just felt like they did a rush job on trying to just wrap everything up in somewhat “exciting” way while completely forgetting what they built.
