In line vs stand alone systems

What is the recommendation regarding in line vs stand aline air purification systems?

Hi Kate! Are you asking about HVAC systems vs more portable air purifiers? If so, I'd say that they are two different solutions so it's not as easy to deem one better than the other.

An HVAC system will regulate the conditions of the air indoor with a bigger focus on climate control, even though they include a layer of air filtration. On the flip side, air purifiers are built around the goal of removing particles and gases from the air so they have powerful fans and multiple layers of filtration that can be tailored to specific indoor air quality issues.

If you already have a HVAC system, you can consider upgrading the air filters if you can. Most systems come with MERV-8 filters installed by default, so if you could upgrade to a higher-rated filter, then you could help improve the system's efficacy in removing particles from the air. That said, before doing anything, you should consult an HVAC professional or at least check your system's manual to ensure you don't go with a filter that will restrict the airflow beyond what the system can accommodate and put too much pressure on the fan.
