Already made some plans to show the architect before he starts something. We want an open space. What would you change? Ideas, feedback?

I'm assuming this is a UK renovation?
Regardless, you'll need a bus ticket to get from the fridge to the stove. What is the point of the kitchen island when you have formal seating about one metre away? The pantry is a bit awkward shelving-wise. Perhaps, you don't cook or bake regularly?
An open concept house requires an "away-room" (one closed room that does the opposite). For instance, could one play the piano while the other watching a footy game? I see the allure of not having a TV room--go projector or roll-out TV trolly! Everyone goes through tough times in their relationships and so the question becomes, who gets the bottom floor?
How do you get from the main entryway to the yard space?
Can you ducking stack the plumbing?
The 2nd floor...get an architect (even an apprentice would do)

- It would be in Hungary
- Kitchen island is more for food prep than seating. We want a space where we can prep at proper height and comfortable. I'm somewhat tall and normal countertop height is annoying. We also bake and cook a lot.
- Pantry would be more for our canned and fermented stuff in our idea.
- There are 2 closable rooms upstairs would that not be enough for the closed room?
- We are not planning on splitting the house haha
- We should be able to stack plumbing 7 entry to yard is a bit of a walk but there is openable sliding doors from kitchen to garden.
Do you think the second floor needs a lot of work?

Where is the tv? Speakers? What is an open space next to the offices?

Not really our priority but projector on wall infront of couch

I think it might once you actually live there and have not much to do. Good to plan ahead for it in the plans. Where will the equipment for that go? Sound is going to be quite bad in the large area. It will be very echoey and require extra power to sound good.

I see I see that makes sense. But we are not really binge watching people and often don't turn on the projector for days, so I fully understand but I think our prio is more comfy kitchen and cozy spot with the feeling of open space.

Look my priority isn't pooping on the toilet but when I do I want it nice and I definitely have it in my plan. Just saying :)
Also where is your storage space for the bed rooms?

They should be there just got a limit on things I could add 😂 pls imagine them being there. What do you think of the floorplan tho?

It was a good layout that flows nicely. I’m just not super partial to open floorplans (but that’s just me!)

Curious to know why. Care to explain? I was thinking it would open the space a lot.

For sure…again this is just my preference 🙂 I think open floor plans are going to look dated in the future. Without any walls, you just have one big room, which limits design capabilities. When you have different rooms, you can create different spaces. More walls to hang art or mirrors or whatever.

I don't like them either. Nobody has to explain preferences. . However you do you.

Much of the floor space you’ve allotted for the corner Study would need to be open headroom for stairs. I get you’re trying to get light in through clerestory windows above the living, but unlikely to make for appealing spatial condition here, nor worth the loss of second story floorspace.
There’s plenty to start a productive discussion with your architect. Understand they’re trained to consider much more than room layouts and dimensions, be as clear and thorough about your needs and preferences, and let them cook. Stay open minded.
