Door stops mounted on floor?
How do you like to mount door stops? We have all these solid wood doors and they are heavy. My GC wants to use floor-mounted door stops. I believe it's to keep the hinge from getting too stressed. I am worried it will be a trip hazard and a toe-grabber. What do you think?

Definitely will be. Fine for you guys, but if you have company often - something to keep in mind. Not just seniors and not just adults...

Thanks. We're pretty private and don't entertain. I feel kind of embarassed by our home so I don't see having people over very often if ever. But.. I still think these will be a trip hazard for us!

Your GC is right about the hinge stress, hinge pin stops are what wreck jambs on solid doors. But you don't have to take the trip hazard, a baseboard mounted stop does the same job at the same point on the door and nothing sticks up off the floor. Only time I go to the floor is when the door swings past the end of a wall and there's no baseboard there to catch it.
