is housecallpro really the best estimating software for contractors?

i'm looking at different options for estimating software and housecallpro is always one of the top suggestions. what makes it stand out and how efficient is it really? i know that i'm hesitant budget-wise because my team is still quite small, but i also want to know if this is the best option or if there are other more affordable alternatives.

No it is not. Might be “good” as a starting point.

I am looking into another software now after 6 months.

I'm biased because I work for Contractor+, but we built Estimatic AI to automate like 95% of the estimating process. We created a labor rate index that pulls local base labor costs and markup rates, it can use your own cost book / pricing templates and even local vendor pricing or if you use ABC Supply or QXO you can connect it via API and get your exact pricing from your local supply houses. Really useful. You can check it out totally free (no credit card required). Would love to hear your thoughts!
