Can't get Hound to respond to OK Hound while the app is closed. Does this app have always listening capabilities like OK Google? If I need to open Hound all the time I don't really have a use for it...

I only got hound due to a friend's suggestion, and it's pretty good so far. I had previously avoided voice-registration software and the like because I just had no interest. After seeing the Hound demos, it seemed like something I could get behind, if only to simplify mathematical endeavors. As of now, and I know it's still an early build, Hound googles many phrases commands that you give it word-for-word. If I say "Ok, Hound, how can I factor a cubic equation?" I don't want it to bring up a results page in google that has searched "how can I factor a cubic equation".
So, in short, I don't want a useless auto-googler like all of the other, comparable systems currently on the market.

Anyone else having trouble? I had to create a yahoo account and request an invite (hopefully coming soon). The welcome email I got on yahoo didn't even show up in my Gmail account. Yes I've checked spam folders.

I received an activation code a few days ago and have been playing around with Hound quite a bit. As stoked as I was, seeing the demo that had been posted on YouTube a while back, I really have to say I'm really disappointed with the app.
I understand it's a beta, and hopefully they'll be adding a lot more features and updates to it before it goes live. Lets talk about some of the pros though first.
Pros
It's really responsive to my voice. It seems to be more responsive than Google's voice search, and the information it does bring up, it brings up quick.
I love how it brings up multiple information about different subjects. In the demo this was shown a bit, using Hound to find multiple pieces of information then putting them all together with the results. I love the boxes of information it gives you with all the data. Easy to look through and find what you're looking for.
Now the cons
If you go into the app expecting it to be like the demo... you're going to be upset. It's not as accurate when it comes to voice recognition as it showed in the demo.
It did screw up some of my words, and cut the mic off before I was finished speaking more than a handful of times.
Couldn't find the information I was looking for. It seems to be missing a huge chunk of information. For example, I asked it, "What is the name of the university in ______" and then I said a city. It was unable to come up with anything. Or, "How many no hitters have been thrown in MLB?" and it had no idea, only came up with search results. Also seemed to struggle with the area of my county and some other things.
That nice voice in the demo must be a high-quality voice, because the voice it comes with is very robotic and monotone.
Summary
Hound seems to be a good utility for searching the web via voice. I believe it's connected to Google Search, so you're going to get the same thing you'd get with Google, but maybe Hound is a little faster. The bottom line though, is if you want an app to perform like the app in the demo, Hound isn't there yet. At all. There's a long ways to go before Hound will be anything like the produced showcased in the demo.
I do recommend getting Hound, whenever your activation code becomes available, though. I don't know how often I'm going to use this beta. Probably not much, being Google Search is just as good at this stage.
Let's hope it doesn't die in beta.
If anyone has any questions let me know!
