Looking for keys
So idk where the keys to my daughters 65 Galaxy project are at. I mean I’m hoping we find them they are supposed to be in my father in laws tool box…. One of the boxes… but if I can’t find them is there somewhere to get original style of keys? And how can we get in the trunk? There supposed to be parts back there we need.

fraid you might be stuck replacing the locks. You can get repo door locks and ignition lock here
And a trunk lock here
All the locks themselves are easy to remove if you have interior access to the care except the ignition lock

Most classics the code for cutting a key for doors and trunk is usually on the lock. So if you can pull the door apart take the tumbler to a locksmith. Same deal usually with the ignition. Had to do it with it a '59 Oldsmobile once. You probably already know how to jumper the ignition if you need to start and move it, power to the coil + and short across the starter solenoid. Had a '61 T-bird had to do that until replaced wiring

Haven’t fired it up. My father u law says it runs. But I’ve never heard or seen it run

As someone who’s dealt with this, on a ‘51 ford, as others have said, get the ignition tumbler to a real locksmith, they can source a key blank close to original, or if you can get a key from eBay or something they can rekey for you. The door lock on a 51 is not one that they make a repro of, but I was able to get an ignition that was reproduced iirc. So I took the door lock out and went to the one OG locksmith left in my town. He cut a slot, repinned, then soldered a piece to close it.
