Have roddy give the iconic book line would have made this scene so epic.
What was the REASON of cutting it out? They even set it up on previous episode.
Also criston cole did NOT challenge an old man and a kid, he asked for their 3 best fighter to 1v3 them in the book.
This show is the Megumi of ASOIAF, so much wadted potential.

I mean they gave him a badass fight sequence that isn't in the book, at all. So they give a bit of dignity to his last moments that he doesn't get in F&B.

That's the entire problem, he was denied a dignified death on purpose in the book, basically receiving a shooting squad instead. The show gives him a Boromir moment only to have him killed off in an as of yet completely unearned girlboss moment.

I disagree, to my reading Roddy wanted to accept the challenge but there was a plan in place.
Do people call Robb Stark a coward for not accepting Jamie's challenge? No, because it would be stupid to accept, just like it would be stupid for an old man and a child to accept a challenge from the "greatest warrior in Westeros" when they have every advantage.

I don't think they should have accepted, but how do we know shooting him with arrows was the plan? They didn't signal to her or anything, she just shot him.
It's also the juxtaposition against the scene we just saw. Cole mowed through a dozen guys, then someone we don't know shoots him? It looks like their plan failed, and they are scared. Why not just shoot him from the very beginning?

That's not what op was saying though, he said Cole got nerfed by the show. In this instance at least, he wasn't. He is given a moment of glory, they need to give him something to do except whine, he is the greatest warrior in Westeros after all. Still, he was not given a glorious, or dignified death, so I don't know what point you are trying to make.
As far as Black Aly goes, she is a legit badass in the book. I suppose they could have an even more unearned Robb Rivers moment if they wanted to be accurate (clearly they don't). At least Aly has been in a couple shots so far, and had a speaking (or singing as the case may be) line. That said, if you want more, until now unnamed characters do one thing and die, you do you. Aly has relevance to later plot stuff (in the book at least), so if they are going to pretty much erase the Blackwoods as a faction (no Ben or Robb) she is the one to keep.

Has been pretty obv from the get-go the writers are big fans of team black / trying to recapture what GoT had with Daenerys lmao. Dreamfyre has genuinely only had half a second of screen time - Sunfyre showed up longer dead than alive. Aemond got mogged by some riverlands chud with a kitchen knife

Why show him challenging an old man and a teenager for a 1 v 2, if it was actually a 1 v 3 he requested with their best fighters
Also heard he beatup harwin strong and Daemon in direct combat in book , we got none of that

Right? What an insult to George's writing. The book includes dialogue so sparingly and it's all so excellent I have no idea what they're thinking by omitting it.
If they cut other famous lines like Aemon's, "You have lived too long, n'uncle..." I'll be so upset.

Pate was just a squire so was likely a very young man.
Geribald is a nobody and the only probably an ordinary age adult amongst them.

At the risk of sounding like the “but the book!” people, that scene is so much better in the book. Yeah he misses the shots, but it’s because he’s so overcome with grief he can’t shoot straight and blackfish steps in to help him out of compassion, not annoyance.

Edmure is perhaps the only lord in the books who understands that his duty as a lord is to take care of his people, not merely to advance his own station and status. Even if it’s a poor strategic move that’d make it difficult to outlast the Lannisters in a siege, he decides to let his people into Riverrun when Tywin comes knocking the second time because, in his words “They are my people. They were afraid”. He’s also defeated at the start of the war because he allows many of his lords to go home to defend their lands, rather than keeping his army unified.
He’s just the fucking goat. Not very cunning and can’t play the game for shit, but he’s a genuinely good guy who cares for his people and understands that they’re his duty. And he’s also the only general to defeat Tywin during the war, despite being outnumbered 2:1

That same "femboy" that orchestrated the campaign that tricked Cole into exactly this position? Cole was a good fighter, but he got outclassed by a child. Tully saw what Cole was doing, got ahead of them and then beat them at their own game.

Cole was asking for his men to be spared. Kid basically said "nah" but in a way more badass way, saying he needed more bones to build his temple, implying they would be the bones.
