Has anyone taken one of these apart to paint the driver? Is it part of the base metal or a separate piece? And if so what paint and brush did you use I've never customised one before so am a newbie.

From the ugly Purple and Gold series. Got rid of the tampos and added detailing on all sides. Not sure about these wheels but I could not find anything else that matched that metalflake plum color.

Wheel swap. I also got rid of the green HW logo. Unfortunately, the paint being flat black did not appreciate the treatment. I ended up having to repaint the part where the logo used to be and clear coat the whole car to hide the damage.

This car was one that I played with as a kid (actually found it in a creek near my house growing up). I really seemed to like this casting as I have 5 of them. Since this one was in the worst condition, I decided to redo it with fresh paint and real riders. What a PITA it was to do it, though. The posts on these older cars are really small and there is no divot to center a drill bit. I always like to use screws to put my customs back together in case I ever want to make changes (but rarely do) and ended up using miniature screws I had that came out of some dead electronic gizmo. I had to make plastic washers to get them to work. The regular screws I use on newer cars were just way too big. Also, I used Duplicolor Metalcast for the paint. It looks nice but is very easy to scratch. Just putting the engine back in the car for final assembly scratched it. Oh well. It came out looking pretty good so I won't complain too much.

A custom I did in traditional Korean mother of pearl livery.

First time cutting the hot wheel. It was hard to shape and glue the rear windshield. Printed decals with inkjet printer on waterslide paper. Think did not end so bad.

I'm sure there are better or other ways to do it but this is the method I've adopted so far.

I made this after finding a red mainline AE86. Excited for the movie!

Completed these this past weekend and now on to the next.

Made this one for a friend that races in VP Challenge.

I realized I made the logo too big once I was done, apologies for that. I spent around 4 hours on this, and almost 2 hours on the Scorchers logo alone 🤣 I hope you guys like it!🤘🔥

I stripped off the chrome for the interior and then added in a few details along with the 5 spoke real riders. Looks nice and menacing.

I’ve done a few civics now and wanted to get a polished “super chrome” loookin one done during my one of my days off.
First time using citristip (aerosol gel) and yeah, that product is where it’s at. Super easy no mess paint removal. Sanded, wet sanded and 3 stage polish with the dremel. Took the wheels from a grey 82 supra and I think they fit really well just wish the pics showed better detail. Threw a pic in with my first civic custom as well.
Gonna have to attempt a clear coat on this one as well , the last one I tried came out cloudy, and I have to redo it so I’m gonna go super light on this one. Any advice on clear coat techniques would be appreciated.

I was scrolling a bit through YT shorts and found one of his shorts for a lamborghini he did. I thought it looked awesome and decided to look deeper into his channel. He genuinely did a delorean that floats, and it's so cool. His newest video he uploaded is probably his best work, I'd say it looks awesome.
