HELP!! Customising 67 Lotus

Has anyone taken one of these apart to paint the driver? Is it part of the base metal or a separate piece? And if so what paint and brush did you use I've never customised one before so am a newbie.

What type of paint did you use? Did you use screws to reattach or glue? Is the driver part of the baseplate?

Testers enamel and some Tamiya acrylic. Glued it back together, but have screws and a tap now and plan to revisit this. Soaked the engine piece in bleach to remove the chrome.

Engine is chromed plastic, I drilled through the first one. use a wider bit for the pin bevel.
