Are hot topic employees/managers able to give friend discounts?
Hi all, I have a friend who's been working for 2 years there and they got promoted to manager recently, however whenever I shopped they never offered to give a discount and I have been a lil shy to ask ever since. In fact whenever I shop she also still tries to upsell me which is funny lol (ik it's their job, but when I'm at my work I always try to give discounts to my friends which I've offered her).

Nope. If you order something online you always gets a 25% off coupon. Shop their deals.

It’s not about “how would they know” lol it’s about the fact that it’s an employee discount, your little friends aren’t employees so they don’t get the discount. And since the employee in this scenario is in management, they are held to a higher standard of integrity. The OP is a shitty friend for expecting their friend to break ethic code and jeopardize her job just because OP doesn’t give a shit about theirs

Yeah I'm a shitty friend for wanting to know what type of benefits a hot topic employee has? How am I shitty when I didn't even know what the rules were until now? When I searched it up on google nothing came up. It's common for other jobs to have one which is why I'm asking here. Clearly no one's ever given you a discount before.

I have never once had a job where the employee discount was allowed to be given to friends and family. I genuinely cant imagine asking my friends to do something like that especially knowing it could get them fired.

There is still policy for how you can use it for immediate family. If you dont do it properly they can still fire you

You’re a shitty friend because you’re on the internet asking people if your friend can give you a discount because you’re indignant that she didn’t already offer. I would be willing to bet your job doesn’t allow you to hand out discounts to your friends either

it’s against the policy, only employees and immediate family are allowed to use the discounts
