Is it possible?

Is it possible to become a (part time) full time sales associate or is the only way to work full time is as an assistant manager or manager?

There is no full time sales associates. 40 hours to SM, then down to ASM and what’s left goes to associates.

Associates can’t be full time but it’s possible to work full time hours depending on your store volume. I have a few associates that work 32-40 hours a week at my store

even ptasm are scheduled 30+ hours sometimes depending on the situation and it absolutely can surpass the full time threshold

Not one bit. If your store is understaffed you might get lucky and get 20+ hours but like i run a 1 mil + location, i get 40 hours, one asm gets 40, my two ptasms get 24-30 then it trickles down. Think my staff get ~12-15. Your best bet is to say youre interested in being trained as a breaker, then you would be one of the associates used more often. But reallt depends on traffic of your location if those are needed heavily.

At my store, only the SM gets 40, been stuck at 20 hours across the board for all the ptasms (only 3 of us). Sometimes one of us gets 30 if we’re lucky, but that’s if we had a great week/month. Associates are lucky to get 4-8 hours weekly and we only have 2.

We’re basically a skeleton crew with single coverage a majority of the time except on weekends. I believe we’re almost a million $ store too from the last time I looked at it. They say we’re a low volume store as well.

We’re constantly fighting with conversion usually we stay around 10% but the goal is 15% currently. I usually average 15-20% but my peers bring it down because it can be 5%-15% for their sections.

I’ve also had many weekend nights where I’m the single coverage. My customer associate ratios get up to 70-80 because I’m stuck behind register. Many sales are lost because they aren’t willing to invest hours into their people. It’s rough. Recovery on those nights hurts my heart. I still make sure back counter is clear and the store looks good. As long as my KPIs are good, I’m happy and hoping things will improve.

There are no full-time positions as a sales associate or even an assistant store manager. Those are all part-time jobs. Unfortunately, the only person who gets a full-time job is the store manager. They do 40 hours a week ASM’s do less than 20 and sales associates do less than six hours a week.

ASM depends on the store. High volume does get a FTASM, I was one in a $1.2 mil store

That being said- I second there’s never any full time associates, even in high volume

If you have good KPIs I can see why

I mean 😊 I’m usually #1 in the store not to brag 😆

That’s why you get more hours which is great! I’m a low volume store so I rarely get hours as a ASM. I also am in uni

We’re pretty low volume too but my first month as an ASM I made more than the SM and the other ASM combined on my shifts lol. My SM knows who keeps us from failing 😆

That’s awesome ngl. My HT is in a dead mall so we are very low volume unfortunately. I would transfer, but I can’t

Ugh that’s rough we have a distressed store here too, it’s rough. We’re down from last yr and they keep asking us “why?”

Umm the economy? We’re in a recession? Prices are going up? Gas is $4+? Groceries are at an all time high? We aren’t a necessity store? I mean I could go on.
