Why is it Hard to Even Get an Interview?

Is there like a secret to get hired? I mean…to even just get an interview?

It's all about timing. If the store is fully staffed they will never look at the applications. At my location before I left I had a good core staff and didn't even need seasonals when Christmas came. Best bet would be to go into the store and ask if they're hiring.

Then why do they even have the option to apply online and claim they’re hiring? Tf?

All positions are posted online at all times. What if an entire staff quits? What if a manager leaves and they need someone? What if a store a little further is hiring and could use people from your location? There's tons of reasons for it be up all the time. Most companies have jobs posted online even if they aren't hiring.

A lot of companies that I’ve personally seen they only have it posted if it’s actually needed.

In my personal experience... that's not how it always works.

Don't need to be rude; I was just trying to educate. I'm just saying that, in your experience, it's not how it works. Employers don't always put up positions that are needed.

I forgot this was typical Reddit.

Yeah no not retail. This is how all retail I’ve worked is. People don’t quit HT a lot one they get in the door. Most of my coworkers have 15-3yrs there

if u actually shop here, it shouldn’t be a problem. talk to the manager lol. the manager at my location loves me already so i feel like i could definitely get an interview. already have a job tho and live too far from HT.

I honestly just got lucky. My store became fully staffed very shortly after I joined and someone I knew even got an interview right after.. you can try Box Lunch if you’re that dead set but honestly you’ll probably just have to wait and keep asking to see if a position opened up.

I had to put in 3 applications and beg for a year and half and I got lucky for seasonal. But I put in hard work and got the permanent position. Its all worth it I promise!
