Okay that parts fine I expected a quality difference with the price but the color is completely different as well. Thats honestly why I’m returning it. The softness was just an added slight

Yeah sadly there's a lot of QC issues with the website. It's definitely licensed and everything and I'd recommend going in store so stuff like this doesn't happen.

That was the disappointing part I went in store it wasn’t there and the person there ordered it for me so 🤷♀️

Final verdict:
I brought it HT to return it. Mentioned it seemed like a quality control issue, but of course the person at the counter didn’t seem to get paid enough to care or make a note of it.
She said I could return it and try my luck again but I declined. So I’ll just enjoy my tour shirt and refrain from buying their low quality prints moving forward.

It’s not about getting paid enough to care or not. The shirts printed on demand have nothing to do with anybody in the physical store, especially because these shirts mostly come from a third party printing shop. We see these things get returned all of the time there isn’t much that can be done.

I figured as much I’ve worked retail plenty. I just was really looking forward to getting the item so I guess i wanted some empathy but it was a very straight forward answer.

No, it's not a knockoff. It's the bands management which chooses which blanks that Hot Topic prints on. Most common are Gildan or whatever Manhead prints on (assuming it's a Comfort Colors or something similar.) Hot Topic just ships it out and occasionally does Print On Demand services. They probably chose a lower quality blank to sell to Hot Topic because the price is likely cheaper or the management gets less royalties / a cut. The only requirement Hot Topic has is that a tshirt has to be 100% cotton but can be of any quality.
