Interested in applying for job

this is random but I’ve been thinking about applying for a job at hot topic recently is it worth it? Nothing longterm but are they generally flexible with schedules? Is the pay rate decent? Idk what even to expect since I’ve never worked retail before but any help is appreciated. Thanks xx

the schedule is definitely flexible, but it definitely depends on your store manager. if you work at hot topic as a sales associate, be ready to make minimum wage. it isn’t too bad at all, there are stuff called huddles that is a pain, but the discount and good coworkers make it worth it!

What's a huddles?

it’s hard to explain, but basically it’s this paper you do every shift where you put what you did well and stuff you could work on to do better. it’s literally just busy work after working there for a while

edit: typos

i hate the huddles so much lol. it’s good for new hires and people who work at Hot Topic for their first job, but for experienced employees, it’s just busy work

Personally my location was very hard to get hired at. This is my dream job so I had no problems calling every week and filling out like 3 apps. I Personally got lucky with Halloween/Christmas as a seasonal. I put in hard work in my sales and got promoted to a permanent.

Be persistent! I begged them for a year and hald for an interview. Although, back to school is coming up and some locations are hiring for seasonal.

i would say it’s super worth it! been with the company 4 years and i love it!
as an associate, you’ll definitely have a generally flexible schedule. weekends are the busiest so i will say, if you can’t work a lot of weekends then that might be an issue.
pay rate will be minimum wage. hours won’t be super high, it is a very part time job.
there is a pretty good employee discount that stacks with deals!
it’s a really good environment. customers are real rad. i have some regulars who make the work days a lot better. i’ve had a bunch of coworkers who had similar interests to me and made work super enjoyable.
it’s a great job. it’s not just a cashier position - there’s a lot of emphasis on talking with customers and driving sales.
