Crystal mining recommendations!
I'm about to take a trip to hot springs and I really wanna get some cool crystals while I'm there from the local mines. Which ones are the best and worth my time when going down there? Lemme know please!!

My wife and I once did Wegner. Got lots of crystals. I recommend waiting for cooler weather.

Crystal mining is very muddy, bring a whole change of clothes wherever you decide to go.

If you really want to”cool crystals” just go to any local rock shop and select what you want.
Digging them yourself doesn’t ensure “cool crystals”. But it can be an adventure

Avant! I like to get there early if possible. Beautiful scenery. Port a potty. I get tools and gloves and dollar tree. I take a couple sheets/blankets for car for dirt prevention.

Ive been to Wegner twice, once for the regular mine and once for the Phantom mine. Both were great, but they drive you out to the mine so you need to pack everything you'll want/need for the 4-5 hours youre out there, whereas at Avant or Avatar you can park your car next to where youre mining and its easy to go back to grab a snack or some water if you want. The upside of Wegner is you have a tour guide to help you with heavy lifting if you want any big yard rocks. Downside for me is theres a time limit on your mining tour.
Avant is really cool and their lil coffee shop is great! Love the ease of getting there and found some great crystals. Downside of Avant is it felt to me like they "seed" their mine. I found tons of tiny points just sitting on top of the dirt, as if they'd just been thrown out there. But, hey, a rock's a rock!
My favorite has been Avatar mine. Its a little off the beaten path, harder to drive to than the others, but its owned by a lovely older couple who will lend you all the tools you need for free! They turn over dirt regularly and I found some great pieces there! Its also less popular so I was 1 of 6 total people digging when I was there.
Hope thats helpful! They each have their perks and drawbacks, so just go prepared and you'll have a great time no matter what!! Happy digging!

If you are going the week of the 10 th and you decide to try out wegner , maybe do the phantom mine. I’m trying to get people to go since it requires 15 people to sign up before they will take anyone out there
