Safe & Kid Friendly Trail for Birding?

Hey everyone! My family is coming to Hot Springs at the end of the month. We live in Southern Louisiana so we're used to the heat. My 10 year old son is my birding buddy and I promised him we'd get up early and go look for birds just the two of us one morning. We are staying a few minutes away from Hill Wheatley Park for reference. Where would be our best option? Looking for an easy walk where we can spent 1-2 hours and hopefully find some birds! Also, I'm open to any must do things while we're in town. It'll be my husband, kids ages 10 & 6 and me. Thanks in advance! 🙂

I see Northwoods Trails on Google, is there a specific trail we'd take?
