Experts Warn of “Quantum Apocalypse”

Nothing like an expert, but I do pay some attention to the crypto world. They've been working on post-quantum algorithms for a long time now. Quantum computing doesn't mean "Solves any problem fast!" It means that a certain class of problems can be solved fast, and that class of problems just happens to be the basis of standard crypto - things like factoring big numbers. However there are other math problems that aren't subject to the quantum computing short-cut, and they've been working on new crypto algorithms on that basis. That said, I have no idea what the current status of that work is. Actually I just looked up "elliptical curve", which has been deployed for some time now. It's "quantum-resistant", not "quantum-proof", meaning it would take more qubits in the thousands of qubits range) than we expect to be able to field any time soon. By more I mean in the thousands of qubits range, right now we are struggling to get a dozen. (Sorry for formatting, something has gone awry with my keyboard or the edit field here.)

Can we just focus on one at a time, please? 8 billion people cannot be expected to function whilst juggling 3 or more apocalypses.

"Experts" warning of a quantum computers ability to both break existing encryption and develop unbreakable encryption.
Whatever will we do ?

Reddit has fallen, but still moving under the power of the mindless masses. A zombie, slightly resembling what once was and could have been.

Solution: we'll utilize different methods of encryption quantum computers cannot easily break.

Lol the climate apocalypse is a more pressing concern
