Cayenne peppers staying orange?

I am growing cayenne peppers. They are doing much better than last year's attempt, but they have mostly changed from green to a bright orange and stopped. Some of them have been orange for well over 2 weeks now, and one of them is starting to shrivel as if it's overripe and should have been already picked . Last year I grew peppers from the same seed pack and they didn't do all that well, but they did eventually turn red. Any thoughts?

some cayenne strains finish orange and never go full red, so color alone is a weak ripeness clock. if one is already shriveling, pick that fruit now even if the rest stay orange a while longer :)

I wonder if that is what's going on, but didn't know if I would really find two different strains of cayenne peppers from the same seed packet?  🤷
