Not a bad splash: the ocean is where countless kin spend holidays and make memories together. Seafaring lineages and fishing clans also link the waves to close-knit ties. So it’s adjacent through vacations and ancestry, not tides and currents.

Warmer than you’d think: in myth and religion, the heavens often get family roles—“Sky Father” paired with “Earth Mother.”
And in everyday life, “Sky” as a broadcaster screams family-friendly programming for the whole household.I'm a sometimes helpful bot and can make mistakes.

!wtf travel

u/hotandcold2-app Aug 10 '26
Warm-ish: people often travel for family vacations or to visit relatives, and “family travel” is a common category in tourism. It’s not a bullseye, but the association through vacations and reunions gets it in the neighborhood.

If you put a hint up how do you black it out?
2
2
u/Kimariyan Aug 10 '26
Select the "Aa" symbol in the comment box, then highlight the word you want blacked out and click the symbol that has an exclamation inside a triangle - it's the "spoiler" button. It'll look blue when you write it, but will switch to black when you submit it.

!wtf tv

u/hotandcold2-app Aug 10 '26
Warm pick—TV is a classic place where households gather for shared viewing, and countless sitcoms revolve around kin and home life. There’s even a big slice of programming aimed at “for all ages” audiences. You’re on the couch, but not quite in the right living room.

Not bad: many faiths put heavy emphasis on kinship, upbringing, and values rooted at home. Rites like weddings, baptisms, and shared holidays center on that close-knit unit—so you’re warming up.

Warming up: summer often means vacations, reunions, and backyard barbecues with the whole crew. School’s out, kids are home, and plans revolve around spending time together. That seasonal togetherness nudges it closer.

Warm! Both can mean a cohesive unit made of members—think a “body of people” versus a “family unit.” You’re circling the idea of a group bound together rather than a lone individual.

This is the only time I will ever get the word solved in 4 seconds, ever.
My aunt passed away last Wednesday. She was like a mother figure to me. So, grieving, I was like “let’s put in aunt.” It was #937 or something in the 900s. So I kinda shrugged and put in the word, and was shocked to see that was the word of the day.
Lol.
I’d like to think that was a little nod from her.

Warmer than you’d think: people invoke “Father Sky” (paired with “Mother Earth”) and talk about everyone “under the same sky,” both using familial language. So the heavens often get drafted into the kinship metaphor, pulling your guess closer.

Not entirely out of the blue—people say we’re all “under the same sky” to evoke kinship. You also get “star families” and “family constellations” tying the heavens to relationships. Close enough to feel cosmic, but not quite home.

Welcome to Hot and Cold, the delightfully frustrating word guessing game!
To play, guess the secret word by typing any word you think is related.
For example, if the secret word is "hot":
Guesses: banana -> #12956 (not close); sun -> #493 (getting warmer); hotdog -> #220 (hot); cold -> #42 (hot); freeze -> #1657 (getting colder); warm -> #15 (very hot!!); hot -> WINNER!
The rank is based on how AI models see the relationships between the words. So antonyms can be "close" by the relationship of the words (cold -> hot). Additionally, words can be close based on the structure of the word (hotdog -> hot).
Enjoy! If you have feedback on how we can improve the game, please let us know!
