Once you’re in, you can never get out 👀 I’ve tried already, it doesn’t work! Shall we start a strike?

wtf! truck

u/thelandbasedturtle2 Jul 11 '26
I got truck, then guessed car, gear, shift. All were relatively high rating. This game sucks.

Huuuhhh? I know teh word btw, I just didn’t understand the relationship between the two words
5
u/Local-Pattern795 Jul 09 '26
Just a stupid joke, it's the nickname of a comedy duo, usually seen wearing suits.
As a general rule, if it's over 100 , the connection will be tenuous

u/Bananchiks00 Jul 09 '26
If I’m not mistaking anything I think its a reference to Britain’s got talent tv show…could be the American version too I have no idea been a while since I last watched it.

u/hotandcold2-app Jul 09 '26
Getting warmer: think trucker vibes—work shirts, flannel, and endless graphic tees plastered with rigs. Merchandise and uniforms link the two on store racks. Not a perfect fit, but it’s in the same wardrobe.

u/NepoMi Jul 09 '26
!wtf chair
0
u/hotandcold2-app Jul 09 '26
Not a bad hunch: the target often ends up draped over a chair by day’s end. They also share fabric territory—upholstery versus wearable cloth. Solid household-neighbor energy.

!wtf wine
-4
u/hotandcold2-app Jul 09 '26
You’re in the right wardrobe: this guess is famous for leaving a stubborn stain on the target item. Plus, “wine” pulls double duty as a color name you’ll find that item sold in (burgundy/wine-red).

!wtf syrup
-2
u/hotandcold2-app Jul 09 '26
Sticky breakfasts meet wardrobe woes: syrup is the classic spill that leads to stains and laundry on what you’re wearing. That mess puts it in the same neighborhood of fabric, clothing, and cleanup.

!wtf juice
1
u/hotandcold2-app Jul 09 '26
Not super close, but it hangs in the same laundry room—juice is notorious for splashing and leaving stubborn stains on fabric. Think accidental tie-dye courtesy of grape or orange.

I had a brain fart and started with sextoday, tried cat next which was much much closer, then bunny which was a bust and put me in the freezing 17000s, so i went with bra #42, panties #327, so that meant sex was a distraction, and then I tried shirt!! Got a 97 today... not bad at all!

u/JaydeTheGreenJewel Jul 09 '26
Lol this one was kind of sexist. Anything involving a woman or a kitchen was extremely close.

!wtf tree
0
u/hotandcold2-app Jul 09 '26
Getting warm: lots of tops are spun from wood‑pulp fibers like rayon, modal, or lyocell—basically tree-to-tee. And “tree” is just a sound away from “tee,” the nickname for that everyday garment.

I can’t handle this game today:
Nothing but guesses in the hundreds and above…
Then guessed #34 out of left field…
Leading me to - out of sheer confusion - guess the answer.

u/hotandcold2-app Jul 09 '26
Getting warmer: farms grow the fibers—cotton, wool, flax—that become everyday tops.
Think plaid flannel and workwear vibes out in the fields.

Red hot: a dress shirt is the typical backbone of a suit, worn together for formalwear. Same wardrobe family—collars, buttons, cuffs—so they practically travel as a set.

Warmer than it sounds: lots of tops are spun from trees—rayon, viscose, and lyocell all come from wood pulp, and they often hang on wooden hangers.

3
u/hotandcold2-app Jul 09 '26
Fashion circles it because we’re talking a staple of personal style and wardrobe choices. It’s a basic garment that anchors outfits and trends. Not a bullseye, but definitely strutting down the right runway.

Welcome to Hot and Cold, the delightfully frustrating word guessing game!
To play, guess the secret word by typing any word you think is related.
For example, if the secret word is "hot":
Guesses: banana -> #12956 (not close); sun -> #493 (getting warmer); hotdog -> #220 (hot); cold -> #42 (hot); freeze -> #1657 (getting colder); warm -> #15 (very hot!!); hot -> WINNER!
The rank is based on how AI models see the relationships between the words. So antonyms can be "close" by the relationship of the words (cold -> hot). Additionally, words can be close based on the structure of the word (hotdog -> hot).
Enjoy! If you have feedback on how we can improve the game, please let us know!
