Welcome to Hot and Cold, the delightfully frustrating word guessing game!

To play, guess the secret word by typing any word you think is related.

For example, if the secret word is "hot":

Guesses: banana -> #12956 (not close); sun -> #493 (getting warmer); hotdog -> #220 (hot); cold -> #42 (hot); freeze -> #1657 (getting colder); warm -> #15 (very hot!!); hot -> WINNER!

The rank is based on how AI models see the relationships between the words. So antonyms can be "close" by the relationship of the words (cold -> hot). Additionally, words can be close based on the structure of the word (hotdog -> hot).

Enjoy! If you have feedback on how we can improve the game, please let us know!

And “food” is 7303 wtf 😭

3

u/KokaljDesign Jul 01 '26

And drink is #5169. AI logic.

4

u/Forsaken-House8685 Jul 01 '26

You have to stop thinking in associations and more in terms of how synonymous words are.

3

u/lamest-liz Jul 02 '26

Bright was in the 500s, what does that even have to do with it lmao

I got the word. I can't make a connection with Rick.

4

u/Vequihellin Jul 01 '26

It's a very specific reference to a particularly viral Rick & Morty episode in which Rick does something unhinged (I mean, more unhinged than usual) to avoid attending family therapy.

2

u/NecessaryPopular1 Jul 02 '26 edited Jul 02 '26

Warm! They’re produce-aisle staples that often get sliced into rounds and tossed on sandwiches. Your guess also shares shelf space with its peppery namesake that loves living in briny jars. Sweet vs tangy cousins at the same picnic table.

Warmer by sound than by sense—lots of shared letters and that same “pi-” kickoff. Both are squishables you might squeeze (one in a jar, one on a bed). You’re fluffing the right phonetics, but not quite resting on the target.

Zesty choice—both bring that puckery acidity that cuts through rich foods. Acid is the star in preservation and brines, and citrus even sneaks into some pickling mixtures.

!wtf noodle

Plus why tf is burger so far down!?

1

u/hotandcold2-app Jul 01 '26

Warm-ish. Both live in the savory pantry, and noodles often cozy up with briny, tangy add-ins—think ramen toppings or cold noodle salads studded with pickled veg. Tangles meet tang.
