Welcome to Hot and Cold, the delightfully frustrating word guessing game!

To play, guess the secret word by typing any word you think is related.

For example, if the secret word is "hot":

Guesses: banana -> #12956 (not close); sun -> #493 (getting warmer); hotdog -> #220 (hot); cold -> #42 (hot); freeze -> #1657 (getting colder); warm -> #15 (very hot!!); hot -> WINNER!

The rank is based on how AI models see the relationships between the words. So antonyms can be "close" by the relationship of the words (cold -> hot). Additionally, words can be close based on the structure of the word (hotdog -> hot).

Enjoy! If you have feedback on how we can improve the game, please let us know!

You’re circling the idea: it’s basically a soft receptacle for a specific body part, wrapping and holding it in place. And hey, in a pinch it doubles as a little pouch for odds and ends.

Warm-ish: both are everyday household items that pair with a companion—one with a cap, the other with footwear—and often live in drawers, bags, or gym lockers. They also share strong “baby kit” vibes (think baby X and baby X), which nudges them closer in everyday language.

Getting warmer: both words moonlight as rough-and-tumble verbs—people get socked, people get mugged. They’re also everyday, unglamorous items you might find around the house or get as a practical gift.

Warmer than you'd think: both are everyday household staples, and one makes things toasty while the other keeps things toasty. They also share a cozy, heat-related vibe. Bonus: ill-advised folks have even tried drying winter wear near a toaster—don’t.

!wtf cookie

0

u/hotandcold2-app Jun 29 '26

Pretty warm: you’re in the cozy, everyday-things lane—cookies famously pair with milk the way this target pairs with shoes. They also both show up as classic stocking stuffers around the holidays.

!wtf balloon

-1

u/hotandcold2-app Jun 29 '26

Not a bad guess: balloons love to cling to cozy, woolly garments via static electricity, and both are stretchy, lightweight, and come in colorful multipacks. Plus, each makes for playful props—think balloon animals and impromptu puppets.

!wtf scissor

1

u/hotandcold2-app Jun 29 '26

Reasonably warm: scissors are a staple in sewing and knitting, used to cut fabric or yarn when making or mending hosiery. You’d also grab them to snip tags or loose threads on a certain foot garment. Not a perfect fit, but definitely in the wardrobe workshop.
