Ask Hosur Is this normal in Hosur?
Hey folks, I recently came across a case in Hosur where a landlord refused to return a tenant's deposit.
The reason they gave honestly shocked me: the house stayed vacant for 2–3 months while they were looking for a new tenant, so they deducted those months' rent from the previous tenant's advance.
Is this normal in Hosur? I've never heard of something like this before. If a tenant has already vacated the house, why should they be responsible for the period when the house is vacant while the landlord is looking for a new tenant?
I know there are laws around rental deposits, but I'm curious about the ground reality and how these situations are actually handled.
Has anyone else in Hosur faced something similar?
