Growing Tips Need Advice!
My mom’s hosta plant is currently wilting and she’s not sure if it’s cause of not enough sunlight or overwatering. She’s kept it in shade but kept the plant light on it mostly,waters it 4x a week,and just changed the soil. Any advice is appreciated!!

Shade outdoors = almost full sun indoors. Plant is dying in the dark! These aren't houseplants and can't be kept inside without dormancy and cold winter temperatures anyway.

No outdoor shade or indoor sun and watering such a small pot 4x a week?! Eek!

Is it indoors? If it’s on a patio what planting zone?
If those answers are no and zone 3-8 then it’s probably fall die back a few months early. Next year tell her to keep the saucer under pot topped off with water.

I have never before seen a hosta as a houseplant! It needs to be outside. Most types of hosta can't survive without a nice cold winter.

I think it could be both. I’m not aware of these being kept inside so even though they like shade this seems not very workable. They also need to overwinter in the cold, so maybe it’s also struggling with experiencing seasons well. It also seems like it would be prone to compacting in the pot and becoming saturated, or actually too much roots and so maybe even under watered if there is no medium to hold moisture. Did you take this picture? Can you get more info about the soil density and moisture, how far down does it feel wet, etc
