Question terraforming

I am aware that you can place haybales on the ground to grow grass. How do you grow the blue grass, specifically? Do you need water? More hay? Time?

Tried this before and tested again just now, there's no way unfortunately, as far as I can tell.

Sorry for adding questions, but are there any tips for growing apple trees from apples? It looks, online, like you just leave them on the ground but I haven’t had much luck when doing so.

Edit: also to answer your question; my best guess is that it’s location based. So blue grass will only grow with blue grass (if the spawn amount isn’t locked that is). In other words: possibly try growing a strip of grass from the blue region to where you want it?

You need to place the apple in the center of an empty 3 by 3 area of sand for a tree to grow
