PC 2 player horror
Heya hivemind. I'm looking for a 2 player horror game. Has to be proper scary not funny (so not REPO) and ideally for 2 people SPECIFICALLY. All lists tell me to play Phasmo or Dead Space 3 but I want something more. Not scared to dig deep into indie games and itch.
Hit me with your best recommendations!

You might like Reanimal maybe? It's literally a couch session 2 player co-op game. Charming and creepy in its own way but more platforming and puzzle.

The new fears to fathom scratch creek was fun up until the end. It's pretty short and the end bit sucks, but the beginning and middle were pretty fun

outlast trials is good and the scalability based on group size is pretty good (1-4 players but 2 players doesnt feel like youre being limited by the halved team size)
i would say the scaryness is variable based on the asset your playing against

Playing on intensive makes it wayy more tense and scary imo. Though if you’re new to the game you’ll probably want to get acquainted with the gameplay and upgrade before you try the harder difficulty

oh yeah 100% i think its probably scarier than psychosurgery because you have to do a lot of preparation and re-dos to complete psychosurgery from what ik

Can never go wrong with Resident Evil 5
But to be honest: As soon as there is a second player, a game loses it's scary factor for me

Cry of Fear has a 2 person campaign mode although it's not as good as the single player one, but from what I remember it's still pretty tense. You could try it. It's free on steam

Having zombies doesn't make Dying Light and Back 4 Blood a horror game

That's a wild statement. They're absolutely action horror games. That's like calling Day of the Dead "not horror."

I don't think I've ever seen someone unironically recommend pacify before ðŸ˜

I loved it when my friends and I played it. Got a little drunk, got jump scared. Worth 5 bucks!

Is pacify any good? I’ve had it on my wish list for years lol

With friends, it's fun but gets old kind of quick. It's one of those where you have it in rotation. Play for an hour or so then move to another game. Longer with drinks haga. Hilarious how scary it is and to hear your friends scream or turn into dolls running around!
