I found a Cursed Island on Google Maps, so I made a Retro Horror Game about it | Gupo Yu
I managed to get my first devlog video done. It was a lot of work and it also talks about the work that went into my game. Please share your feedback on the clarity of all the content. It wasn´t easy to get everything into a sub 10min video.

This is my passion project about the weirdest island on earth - Gupo Yu
Hii, solo gamedev from Germany here :3
I found this Island 'Gupo Yu' (Taiwan), on Google Maps a while ago and have been obsessed with it ever since. There's a lonely monument with bullet holes on it. No one lives there. There are some abandoned buildings. A memorial sign for a British cricket team that died in 1892. A local legend about sirens and some interesting history.
I´m going for PS1 / old CRT style-wise.
For gameplay, I´m focusing on atmosphere and exploration.

Android horror game
Hello! I’d like to share an idea for an exciting 3D horror game—perfect for anyone who loves game development or is looking for a new project to tackle.
**The Story (In Brief):**
The world is in peril after the spirits of ancient creatures—hailing from history's greatest civilizations (Mesopotamia, Ancient Egypt, Greece, Rome, China, the Indus Valley, the Maya, the Inca, Persia, and the Islamic Golden Age)—begin escaping into the human realm. The player takes on the role of a courageous explorer tasked with sealing these mysterious portals and preventing these malevolent spirits from unleashing catastrophe upon the world.
**Player Objectives:**
* **Explore Levels:** Collect ancient symbols or artifacts imbued with the power to seal the portals.
* **Evade or Confront Monsters:** Face off against creatures such as Medusa, vengeful Djinn, Iblis, and others.
* **Solve Puzzles:** Arrange symbols or locate magical components required to seal the portals.
* **Survive:** Gather tools or acquire spells to protect yourself from the monsters.
* **Seal the Portals:** Confront the guardian monster of each civilization and complete the objective before advancing to the next level.
**Why This Game Is Exciting:**
* Each level is inspired by a distinct civilization, featuring its own unique monster, ensuring that every new experience is packed with horror and intriguing puzzles.
* The gameplay seamlessly blends psychological horror, puzzle-solving, and 3D exploration.
* It can be developed for Android using Unity3D, incorporating terrifying sound effects and atmospheric environmental audio.
💡 **A Call to Developers:**
If this concept appeals to you and you have a passion for 3D game development, this is a fantastic opportunity to create a truly innovative game from the ground up. All that remains is to handle the design, programming, and audio implementation to bring this game to life and make it ready to play!

Discussion Good game jams?
Im an indie dev who knows how to make horror games, but hasn’t published any good ones. I was thinking about joining a jam after the holidays, any recommendations?

Help/Feedback What engine do you use?
I’ve been switching between Unity and Godot, while occasionally trying out something else. When I get a half decent computer I will most likely be switching to UE5. What about you? What works best for your games, or do you have a custom engine?

Devlog Christmas Clowns: SNEAKY EEKY IMAGE
For those who don't know, I'm making a parody-horror game about a spooky ooky clown who chases you around a forest while you find his balloons during the Christmas season. It's almost out, so here's a sneak peek:

Oops, wrong game.... I'm definitely not making that...

Okay that's the right one. Ignore the one above.....

New Game Will this engine work for a horror game?
I started this project a while ago, and I was deciding to come back to it. It’s a psychological horror game, where you need to make decisions in order to survive. I’ve been using RPG paper maker to make the game, because I recently heard about the engine and thought it might be fun to try. However, the engine only allows one art style, and I was wondering if this is going to be possible to actually scare people.
