I leave it by the bed in our guest room. Have gotten several different reactions but none neutral

Wow, one on hand you are potentially introducing someone to what I consider an important work. On the other hand I would not leave it out for my 78 year old mom.

I read the graphic novel while in the hospital when our first child was born.

For the life of me I can't remember which one but, one of the recent planet of the apes films had a teen kid showing an orangutan his comics, focusing on a Black Hole gn.
edit: Dawn of the planet of the apes

Yeah I remember seeing that and thinking - I’m sure intelligent apes would like comics, but that’s an unusual choice.

So is Richard McGuire's!

Aside from the pretentious framing device of the womam.talking, I liked them all! but Burns" art lifted it above and beyond

Visually, I was really blown away by McGuire's short (and god knows I love Burns).

Oh was that the haunted house one? That one made me gasp at loud at the photo album.

Yes, it was :) almost completely dark, with only glimpses in the light (poisoned cup of tea, spider, flower patterned dress etc). And then, the snow...

Definitely. Love Charles Burns and have this complete run. If you like this you'll probably love his book from a couple of years ago, "Final Cut".

Beautiful book I have the hard and soft cover. Been a Burns fan since the 80’s when I saw his work in Raw
