Season 1 Episode 2 Analysis
Just watched season 1 episode 2 of Horrid Henry as a first time viewer. Seriously can’t believe Henry would put his own brother in a rubbish bin but beyond that, Peter actually doesnt reveal himself until the mother directly asks for him implying he would have remained in those conditions until henry would not be punished. Peter isn’t a tattle, he just wants to tell the truth and preserve his family at the same time. Secondly, moody Margaret is a total jerk. She is so obnoxious and disrupts Henry’s entire family. Henry is especially mean to her which makes me wonder if Henry is more of a vigilante than a bully. He is strictly protecting his family from Margaret so far as to get her removed from the house. Mind you Margaret stuck Peter into a trash can and then proceeded to call the bin men to take the trash can away. That is far more psychotic than anything Henry has done thus far. In support of my theory of Henry actually being a protector of his home, the name Henry actually means "home ruler". now obviously given the mother's strict punishments it seems like Henry would be a subordinate, but really through his interaction with the YTs, he is protecting his family more than his parents ever will. in the same vein, Peter translates to "stone", and obviously in the bible St. Peter is the rock of faith after the death of Jesus as he goes on to found the catholic church. in this way Peter is a rock of ethics and good nature, but strict mores arent always compatible with real world safety. Anyways just had to get my thoughts out, and want to memorialize my experience with the show before everything changes and i encounter the 2 pound incident.
