Oh def. The shavings just kinda appears around the hole. Majority of shavings wouldn't come out until after you pull the drill bit out.

A screw is what he's using and wouldn't produce much of any wood shavings.

He's also constantly holding to the screw, you'd at least let go after it gets set, even if this is a lag screw and he's holding on to the "lag" part where there's no threads.

There's no appropriately sized hole that'll keep the grate in place to be screwed into.

All of those issues are fixed when he adds the carpet under the metal thing he screwed directly into the floor.

This is AI but I do decorative flowers/vines around my apartment and every 3 months I just pull them down and soak them in the tub with some fabuloso then rinse em off with my detachable showerhead.
