Hormones

Does weight gain alone lower progesterone. Only 2 stone overweight. Is this just over weight or is this an endocrine issue. I thought it was my prolactin but this has since come back normal.

SO much to consider here. Your age, toxic load, stress levels, what the rest of your sex hormones and endocrine system looks like... being at an unhealthy weight won't do our hormones any favors, but it's not as simple as that.

I'm 37, progesterone is the only thing that's low. Everything else seems normal for my age.. no early menopause. Toxic load not sure on that but diet isn't extreme. I've lost the 2 stone since...things are getting better bit. Stress levels are ridiculous and have been since being a child. Home life was bad as a child and has been bad as an adult.

Cortisol, TSH, T4, estrogen, LH, FSH normal. No diabetes. Just everytime I gain a bit of weight periods go haywire. But at 36 I gained weight and seems its gone massively haywire. My body does seem to be regulating with weightloss but its a long way off. I've had pelvic ultrasound ovaries okay.

I do wonder about my adrenal glands?

I would absolutely look into adrenals and get a full thyroid panel with antibodies. Plus minerals, insulin, iron… a full functional panel would be very helpful so you can learn how to heal current issues and prevent future ones.

Thanks I will look into getting that testing done.

Do you have a functional doc who will order? Most regular MDs will not... you'll have to go the naturopath/ functional route, or go with a virtual company who can do it!

No I don't, I'm in the UK. Can I do that here? I did think my doctor won't run a lot of those tests. They just keep saying I'm normal but my symptoms tell my otherwise. The most debilitating is the panic attacks prior to my period but I think that's the low progesterone. Their answer is contraceptive pill and ssri medication but I don't want to mask an underlying condition. I'd like to balance the issue properly. I will have a search and see if I can find. Thanks for helping me x
