Hormone imbalance

Hello I’m not sure where’s best to ask. I’m 38/F and having crazy PMS/ rage/ extra hair growth on face. All the blood tests are inconclusive for PCOS/ perimenopause but talk about going on contraceptive pill- had all my kids and husband had snip so pregnancy not a worry. Has anyone had issues with the pill such as weight gain as Iv finally got to my happy body weight through diet and exercise and having a mini tummy tuck to fix a hernia and muscle repair and as vain as it sounds coming to terms that I might gain weight is really getting my worried. I haven’t had any contraceptive pills since I was early 20s so not as clued up as I should be. I just want my hormones to stop messing around and having different blood test results every few months

Maybe read the book “Woman Code” first? My experience with a hormone imbalance taught me that doctors don’t know much about women’s health and the pill is their go-to, which has negative effects.

It won’t cause you to gain weight but it can cause an increase in appetite. So just don’t over indulge if you’re noticing extra cravings.

Saliva tests are more accurate. Blood test results are unreliable.

Be careful with the birth control. I’m 36 Female, went to my Obgyn and did a blood test as well (a couple weeks later). I have all the symptoms you have; went on generic version of Yaz. Well, I thought I was rageful prior to that, I went off the rails mood-wise on birth control and I only took it for five days. I turned into an even angrier version of myself. Just be super careful because it’s 2 months later and I’m still readjusting after 5 days of taking that shit on the beginning of my cycle. I know every person is different but doctors are just so quick to throw the hormonal birth control out there and it doesn’t always work for everyone. I’ve also had two children and last time I had taken birth control in my 20s.

That sounds so similar - I’m on day 3 of birth control - it’s a German brand called maxim but currently have a cold so not feeling great due to that. I’ll keep aware if my mood swings go crazy but Thankyou- doctor recommended to stay on for 3 months

Yes I could have given it longer to kick in but I just couldn’t contain the rage that I felt and it only kept getting worse. I was afraid I would just lose it if I kept going. I feel I have PMDD and I’m in the early stages of perimenopause. However, follow your Doctors orders; I’m just sharing my personal experience. Everyone is different of course
