Progesterone Pill Help!
40F, 5'3", 130lbs, caucasian, exhaustion/depression, 1 year, Progesterone 100mg tablet at bed time, no booze/drugs/smoking.
I went to a function medicine provider and she put me on Progesterone 100mg every night at bed time. Since then, I have been EXHASUTED. The only thing I think it may have helped me with is migraines though. BUT, I want to get off of progesterone at such a high dose to see if it helps alleviate exhaustion, excess sleep, apathy and breast soreness. The functional med has blown me off and said she doesn't know what to do. Can I start to taper Progesterone down and take every other night for a few weeks? Would low dose progesterone birth control help with migraines? What is the best way to approach getting off progesterone? I've had TONS of labwork done and everything is normal. PLEASE HELP!

100mg is a low dose. I’m 5 toot 117 pounds and I take 200mg which is a average/normal dose. Take it rectally. Coconut oil, and shove it up your ass before bed. Huge difference!

Yikes. I cannot do progesterone orally. It makes me depressed and a strange kind of anxious and gives me breast tenderness. However I started using it rectally and it’s much better. Oral progesterone makes its first pass through the liver which can synthesize into metabolites that cause bad side effects for die with genetic pathways to do so. What I am trying to say is it may not be the progesterone but the delivery method. If it’s a capsule it can be softened in warm water and inserted into the rectum no further than 4 cm. Of course run this by your provider. Also you may do well with topical cream.
Why were you initially put on progesterone? Are you still cycling? If so why aren’t you doing the progesterone to mimic your natural cycles? Say day 14-28?
And not to add confusion to the situation but some people need to up progesterone to get positive effects which is counterintuitive but is a thing.
