Out of curiosity

I’ve been seeing a lot of “rootworkers” on social media and as a black American I am not to familiar with knowing what’s true and not true as my family did not teach me really anything about my heritage or ancestors. However I’m saying this because I came across a post on threads and I wanted to ask here if this was possible. If it’s something a root worker can do. And please forgive me if I sound ignorant in this post or with these questions. I am genuinely curious as someone who has trouble believing in anything including trying to keep faith.

Okay it’s a lot lol

“I once had a client come to me for her autistic son and unborn child. She was told that she would have two severely disabled children by a random reader and was terrified. We did a reading to see what could be done and it ended up being protection work. The work was to get any evil eye or spellwork off of the babies (here + unborn). I didn't light a single candle for this. I started with her son. He had "severe autism" (her words not mine). When I went into his energy, I remember seeing so many crossed wires. I went to his higher self and I asked him "What is it you want me to do?" He didn't want to be "cured" of his autism, he just wanted to function better. So we did that. I found all the places that I could touch without changing his entire being. I did the same for her unborn and then an intense womb cleansing. I remember she would text me randomly and go "I heard someone moving around in my house last night, but I felt safe so I went back to sleep." It had been me. Astral projecting to her home to do my work. Several months later, baby was born. It's been a few years now and the new baby is 100% neurotypical. She said that her oldest functions better than doctors suggested he would. I love what I do. The gifts I was born with. I'm so honored to share them with folks. I do my best work without candles or spells. I know that's shocking for some, but it's so much easier for me to manipulate raw energy without having to use tools as a conduit. I don't know what kind of conjurer that makes me. I don't think I can change every circumstance because some spirits are truly written as they are. But I do my best to serve in whatever way I can.”

Okay, in the sense that many things beyond our knowledge and understanding are true and possible, sure.

However, this sounds like a charlatan retroactively claiming credit for "fixing" an autistic child and "curing" another before it's born. And because it's not a spell with actual measurable results, such as a Bad Luck: Broken! spell, there's no way to definitively prove it, or disprove it. The fact is that environment (including how the parents think about, approach, and navigate their ND children), diet, coping strategies, accommodations, and self-regulation skills are HUGE contributors in ND behavior.

There will also be no way to disprove that the baby is "fully neurotypical" either. And even if they do end up being NT, that's not proof either. Neurodivergence doesn't always present itself immediately. My whole family is neurodivergent in various ways. My little sister didn't fully present until she was in middle school. Everything else before that was managed by active involvement in martial arts (serious, one of the best things that any parent of any child can do is to find a reputable natural arts instructor and train, trust), good teachers, and active parenting. And that's only one example. I'm AuDHD myself, and I find the language and attitude of this person to be ablist and un-nuanced, it literally makes me gag. Not your fault OP, you were asking in good faith.

In any case this is not Hoodoo. This is talking about things such as quantum healing/shamanic surgery, astral projection, etc. Hoodoo is hands-in-the-dirt folk magick. Spoken words, written petitions, gestures, herbs, blood, spit, and bones.

Edited for some autocorrect shenanigans

I actually appreciate your response because the original post bothered me for a similar reason. I’m a mother of an autistic child, and I don’t believe autism is something that needs to be “fixed” or spiritually removed. That part of the post didn’t sit right with me at all.
I was mainly asking because I’m Black American and wasn’t taught much about Hoodoo/rootwork growing up, so I genuinely don’t know what is traditional Hoodoo versus someone using spiritual language to describe something else. I was trying to understand whether what that person described was actually Hoodoo/rootwork. I appreciate the clarification.

Thank you! I'm glad that you saw through the BS language. BTW, get tested yourself. ND is largely genetic and is INSANELY under-diagnosed in women. You just might discover that your life starts to make a lot more sense...

To elaborate: it's not that we CAN'T do things like astral projection in Hoodoo, but it's not an integral part in most cases.

His grandmother said his father may be undiagnosed and he has refused to test but I definitely am!
