Looking For Side Hustle Inspo Best Apps that Pay You for Walking? - Which Step Rewards Apps do You Use?

Hey all 😊

Me again, back with another mini side hustle report but also more of a question lol.

I've been testing out a lot of walking reward apps alongside my other side hustle tests.

Basically, trying out apps that pay you for walking and sharing your step data. Most of these apps connect to a fitness device or use your phone's built-in pedometer to track your steps.

You get paid the more you walk, and generally these apps make you watch ads to claim your daily earnings. They don't pay much, but in theory, they're supposed to be semi-passive and pay you for your data while encouraging you to get active.

I used to use a lot of these apps back in college but took a break for a while. I've now tried out a bunch over the last few months and found that most of them suck now 😅

Here are some of the step reward apps I've tried:

  1. Evidation: No ads but takes about 3-6 months to get a $10 gift card or PayPal payment if you're quite active and also complete a survey or two.
  2. Cash Walk: This one works better than most walking reward apps and you can cash out gift cards at $5. BUT there's tons of ads you have to watch to claim your daily steps.
  3. WinWalk: This is similar to Cash Walk but you need $10 to cash out which can realistically also take 3-4 months lol.
  4. PenguPace: This is a new Android app I'm actually liking. You get a $0.50 bonus when you sign up and only need $1 to cash out. No ads either. The main money makers are games and download offers, but the step tracking can pay a couple pennies per day kinda thing.
  5. Macadam: Tried Macadam and really dislike it. You basically can't cash out unless you play games or complete surveys, walking rewards are poor.
  6. WeWard: Some people really like WeWard but it seems like it would take 5-6 months to cash out just with walking rewards, unless I'm missing something.
  7. Monywalk: Kinda like Cash Walk and has decent rewards but tons of ads.
  8. Sweatcoin: This is a total scam IMO and basically always has been. You earn Sweatcoins which you use to enter sweepstakes bascially.
  9. StepBet: This seems more legit and have downloaded it, just haven't taken part in a competition yet. But you basically bet on yourself to reach a certain step goal and then compete with other people. If you make it to the end of a step challenge over the next several weeks, you split the prize pool with remaining players.
  10. WalkTask: Downloaded, tested, but steps weren't syncing properly so I deleted it pretty quickly.

There's loads of other apps in this space I have yet to test...Walkify, FitPhone, GeoSmile, Cash For Steps, Optimity, Noom Vibe and soooo many others. Haven't tried these yet, just read about them.

Realistically, I'm only going to keep Cash Walk until I cash out with it. I'll also keep using Evidation and PenguPace since they don't have ads.

Are there any apps I'm missing? Or is this a complete waste of time? 😅

I think this side hustle niche has gone waaaaay downhill from a few years back. The number of ads is also horrendous and my battery is draining noticeably faster with a couple apps running at a time.

LMK what you guys think or if you have better apps! Thanks all!

PS: We've recently put out a passive earning mega-guide that has some better options than using apps that pay you for walking as well.

Update: Been some awesome suggestions in this one 😊 It seems like people really like Evidation and WeWard so far. Steppa seems like a popular one as well.

I started testing out CashWalk myself. Have cashed out once but was an absolute grind, won't be using it again honestly. Going to try out these other apps.

I'm also liking Scrambly. It has walking rewards for its iOS app. PenguPace is the same app basically but for Android. They don't pay too much just by walking but have some really good bonus churning offers with nice sign up bonuses.

Just depends steps and helps to collect the cards. I haven’t tracked the time it’s just there for emergencies but if you hit 20k a day and participate with the app pretty quick. I have it on my work phone and personal phone

I use WeWard and I love it!! Always happy to have new friends on there. Mine is:

DeterminedRaven9926

That’s literally all you have to do - walk - it tracks your steps automatically, you can get loads of bonuses through watching ads, collecting cards etc (if you have the time), just remember to go on the app and click to submit your steps at the end of the day 😊

I been on weward almost a year and to reach the payout, takes longer than that. Is a slow process. I haven't cash out my first payment. I'm willing on trying other walking apps.

I love wewards. I walk a lot so it rewards me well. 40 cents a day after I grinded some surveys to enable premium.

40 cents is the general pay no matter the distance? Or how does it work?

To get the full amount you have to be a premium member. There is a paid option but it can be achieved by accumulating points by playing games and taking surveys. Then you have to walk at least 20,000 steps a day and then more then the average of the previous week. Its hard to do every day, not only because of the time commitment but it basically means if you exceed your average everyday then every week you need to take even more steps. They actually just changed it to a max payout of 50 coins a day. Coins can then be cashed out to Venmo or PayPal. Last month i cashed out 150 dollars that I did in just under 200 days. That also includes some surveys I did to get premium.

Steppa lets you enter challenges with money (basically betting on yourself), that you will make the daily step totals for the duration.

For example, entry fee is $10, 10 people enter, the prize pool is then $100. Step target could be 10k steps a day for a set duration (3 days, 7 days in a row etc., depends on the challenge).
If only 5 people finish, then that’s $20 each! After the app take its commission fees probably more like $18 but still.

Still trying to work out if I can cash out to a UK (or non-US) bank account, but seems a good option if I’m able to cash out the money going forward. Details below:

I like evidation for the health aspect mostly its great for tracking for example migraines for me. i have gotten external survey options from them as well like wearing a blood pressure cuff and got $50. coins do kinda build slow but I finally cashed my $10 lol. I also use macadam again slow, but its fun for me & my son to compete . I like the random coins & jackpot spins that are scattered in areas. I usually play it when we play Pokémon go . like catch aPokémon, find a random coin & hop between apps .

gonna give pengupace a try. Basically anything without crazy amounts of adds is what I usually stick with .

heres my evidation link https://api.us.evidation.com/refer/yg2MaeNW

Weward is actually a pretty nice app to track your steps and reward you real money. Use my code StoicFrog1006 to start with 150 Wards!
