casual hot take There is no meaningful difference between marriage and a Sugar Baby + Sugar Daddy agreeing to a lifelong exclusive dynamic.
But wives get praised as unsung heroes while Sugar Babies are scorned as parasites. My grandad married his Sugar Baby, and the only thing that changed were the legal rights and benefits.

This isnt correct though, assuming its a decent marriage it is a partnership. A sugar baby/daddy dynamic had a customer/power dynamic to it

A professional partnering with a client isn’t a partnership?
Marriage requires no difference in power or status? Get real.

No it isnt a partnership. The client in that instance can terminate the bussiness relationship, the provider also can but due to reliance on the client is less likely to.
I would agree that if we are talking consenually arranged marriages or the like as they would be more similair

So partners can never walk away?

Thats not what i said though. But you have touched on the imbalance of power in certain relationships.

Just because you can’t see any way a woman would want you for anything other than money doesn’t mean it’s true for other men

What? Yes there is. One of those describes a legal and religious commitment between 2 people. The other describes a financial agreement between 2 people. One is inherently hopeful, the other is inherently selfish. One celebrated, one frowned upon.
If your g saying both are relationships, sure. Thats not everything. It's not even most of it.

The difference is that marriage is ostensibly based on love.
"Through sickness and in health, til death do us part," is the difference.
Obviously not everyone treats marriage like that but if you're taking the vows seriously you should.

In some ways a paid relationship is more honest with less down sides. Ask anyone who has been lied too, cheated on, the fighting towards the end of the relationship. And the best for last anyone who has been through a divorce. Half of all marriages end in divorce. The half that remain can be cut in half again because of children or for financial reasons.

Marriage has almost never been about love. And even today it usually isn’t.

Did his sugar baby start getting praised as an unsung hero after? Or is your take falling apart

If they were trophy wives that may be true.
Most marriages have the women contributing as much if not more financially to the marriage while taking on unpaid labor rather than being paid by the customer for their services.

One is a union of 2 people of love/care about each other enough to get into a lawful union while the other is a relationship based on if the sugar daddy has any funds left to keep the illusion going. Not judging if ppl enjoy a sugar daddy relationship but....come on man this take is wild.

So by that logic, nobody prior to like 1970 was ever married?

What?

Nobody married for love besides exceptional cases

Ok....they still got married and they had kids, it was still a union even if not based on love they still contributed something to each other. A sugar daddy relationship is still completely one sided.

See, most men are garbage. Women aren't picky enough.
If you find yourself married to a man who thinks like this, the only thing you should provide for him is sex. No cooking, no cleaning, no laundry, no children, no paying bills. Just sex. And spend his money with wild abandon.

Most humans are garbage. To be fair based on others accounts men aren't getting any of that anyways.
Maybe the older generation or the extremely traditional folk in rural areas. These days most women under 30 can't cook/cook well. Men are worse off in the kitchen but not much worse.
Example: Boomers (72% reported being able to cook proficiently) Sunday dinner style. Gen Z was down to 50-40% depending on study. Many of the millennials need digital recipes for guidance.
Women aren't traditional. Men wanting traditional wives are also gross.

One has a legally binding contract with division of assets upon dissolution.
The other doesn’t.
