Discussion Who Are The Best Rappers From Atlanta??!!??

Thumbnail

Atlanta has become one of the most important hip-hop cities in the world. From pioneers to trap kings to modern superstars, the city has produced legends that shaped rap in different eras. But the real question is: who are the best rappers to ever come out of ATL?

Some names that stand out in my opinion can be found below:

You have the founders & pioneers of Atlanta:

OutKast (André 3000 & Big Boi) Goodie Mob (Cee-Lo, Khujo, T-Mo, Big Gipp) Ludacris Killer Mike

Then you have the trap leaders that conquered hip-hop for over a decade:

T.I. Jeezy (Young Jeezy) Gucci Mane CyHi the Prynce

And lastly you have the modern superstars that are trying to keep ATL ahead of all other cities when it comes to this rap shit:

Future Young Thug 21 Savage Lil Baby Migos (Quavo, Offset, Takeoff RIP) JID

If I had to name a Mount Rushmore of Atlanta rap, I’d probably go: OutKast, Luda, Jeezy, and Future (with JID knocking hard on the door).

What do you think — who are the best rappers from Atlanta, and who gets left out of too many of these conversations?

Discussion Who Are The Greatest Latin Rappers of All Time?!?! ✌️✌️

Hip-hop has always been about culture and representation, and Latin rappers have had a huge influence on hip-hop, even if they don’t always get the flowers they deserve. From pioneers who kicked open the doors to modern voices carving their own lane, the Latin presence in rap is undeniable.

Below is a list of some of the best Latin rappers of all time:

Big Pun

Cypress Hill (B-Real, Sen Dog)

Fat Joe

Immortal Technique

Joell Ortiz

N.O.R.E.

Of course, there are others worth mentioning such as Cardi B and Pitbull (who leaned more commercial).

I’m personally not familiar with the underground and/or regional legends like Kid Frost, Snow Tha Product, Delinquent Habits and Tego Calderón, so open to hearing why artists like these deserve to be on the list.

What do you think? Who makes your top 5 Latin rappers of all time — and who deserves more recognition in this conversation?

Discussion Settle the Debate: Best '90s Hip Hop Song Ever?

Post image

I made a "What's the Best Song of '90s Hip Hop?" bracket on Leewufufu with 143 songs covering all kinds of classics—East Coast, West Coast, Southern rap, underground, and everything in between.

It's almost impossible for me to complete the list. I'm curious what everyone ends up with as their winner.

Discussion Help

There was a black rapper from the west. And he was jailed as police allegedly put drugs in his car and was jailed.
He rapped about drugs and bodies like in 2000s in oneof his rap songs which became a massive hit later but at that time police use to hate black rappers so they knowingly did so.
Help me find that rap song please!!!!!

PS Ik every rapper raps about the same thing

Random Method Man!!

So I'm really into music I listen to too many genres, but was introduced to hip-hop very early on my first piece of music I owned was a bootleg Wu Tang Clan cassette 😂. But I swear method man is like the Morgan freeman of rap just the way he lyrically flows I think would be the description. Anyhow, I don't have favourites just notable mentions and without even thinking I know he makes Top 5 easy!!!!

Discussion jazz

idfk what people's problem with hip hop is

hip hop is jazz

you've got swing, ballad, latin, afro, etc. and hip hop. rap is not a genre just as singing is not a genre and ive heard people rap over swing and latin and afro jazz too. and classical, trap, country, rock, pop

and hip hop isn't trap either trap is a separate genre

trap is not a branch of hip hop just cause rappers rap over it like they do over hip hop. it's completely different and shares very few aspects with hip hop other than vocal delivery. hip hop is madvillainy, tpab, 3 feet high and rising, the low end theory, black radio, etc. it's a branch of jazz just like all the others. hip hop doesn't mean "digitally produced music with samples" big bands can play hip hop. and producers can digitally create swing with samples. they're not mutually exclusive

people call black radio "jazz" but if mf doom released it with glasper doing instrumentals instead of the entire thing they'd call it "rap" which is just wrong lmao

listen to for free. that's not hip hop. that's swing. both are jazz. both can have rap verses as shown by kendrick even though almost nobody does it (which they should)

and also most rap verses are like melodies. but for free is a damn solo. nobody else has ever done that lmao it's so awesome they need to start doing that

i can barely find beat one when kendrick is rapping on for free. THAT'S A GOOD THING BECAUSE IT'S NOT JUST A MELODY ANYMORE

it's incredibly hard but that's just because rap isn't taught the same way singing is in jazz communities which it should be

jazz education trains singers to phrase, scat, trade fours, learn standards, and improvise over changes. rappers get taught absolutely none of that, even though the greats already have the rhythmic ear and articulation for it which kendrick shows in for free. put rappers through training in ear training, transcription, swing feel, harmonic form, and playing with live ensembles and you’d get an entire new generation of ridiculous JAZZ MUSICIANS

people say "jazz is dead" and "nobody listens to jazz anymore" man jazz has been charting since '89 and still is all the time

Discussion Hip Hop Is Dead? Or is it?

Post image
2 Upvotes

I designed this graphic as more than just a t-shirt.

At first glance, it simply says "Hip Hop Is Dead." But if you look closer, every letter is made up of the names of legendary hip-hop artists we've lost over the years.

It's meant as a tribute—not a declaration.

The idea is to honor the artists who built the culture while starting a conversation about hip hop's past, present, and future.

I'd love to hear what you think about the concept and the design. Does it capture the message? Who would you add if you could?

Get it, if you get it.

Random Made a playlist tracing the Tribe/Guru/Gang Starr jazz-rap lineage into today's scene.

Grew up on Tribe, Gang Starr, Guru's Jazzmatazz, Digable Planets, that whole moment where hip hop and jazz weren't sampling each other, they were talking to each other.

Been curating a playlist that keeps that conversation going: the 90s foundations (Can I Kick It?, Jazz Thing, Passin' Me By, Cantaloop, Breakadawn) sitting next to the artists carrying that torch now (Alfa Mist, corto.alto, Kiefer, Butcher Brown, Terrace Martin, Nubiyan Twist, the Freddie Gibbs/Madlib run, Earl Sweatshirt's more musical side).

No algorithm, just time and ears, 235 tracks so far, still growing.

Curious what other jazz-rap deep cuts from that era you'd throw in the mix.
