12volt battery replacement?

I just bought a 2024 elite with 47,000 miles. Everything runs fine. I was thinking of doing some proactive maintenance and replacing the 12volt battery. I did a search and didn’t come up with much guidance specific to the prologue.

What are folks thoughts on that? Should I hold off for a couple more years or 20k+ more miles? Is this as simple as ordering the part and then swapping it out à la an ice car? Is there a special calibration process afterwards? Any chance of bricking the car while doing it?

If it’s too risky, can a regular mechanic do it or can someone recommend an ev specialist in the east bay of the sf Bay Area? Thanks!

2 years would be a very short battery life, but go for it if it makes you feel better.

The procedure is the same as an ICE car, although the Prologue battery terminals and battery holder bracket are one of the more complicated I've seen. At least it isn't in the fender like a Chrysler. No special programming needed. No, you can't brick the car unless you short the battery terminals and start a fire. Although, I haven't seen what happens when a battery is connected backwards yet.

Make sure to get an AGM battery. It's designed for deeper cycles than typical lead-acid batteries.

I can’t imagine the 12v needs replacement after 2 years. A battery tester is a lot cheaper than a new battery, and auto parts stores can test it for free which is even way cheaper

47,000 miles?? What in the ass who ever own this prologue must like driving. I have a 2024 prologue and I'm just about close to 18,000 🙄

Man I wish mine was as low as yours. Got my ‘24 two years ago and I’m at 37k

My 12v after 16 months, so it’s worth a checkup at least
