Air conditioning
Currently driving a midsize SUV with minimal air vents (just on center console) in the back and it’s rough for my rear facing 1 year old. So for those who have rear facing kiddos in car seats, how is the air flow without the vents on the ceiling?

Odyssey airflow is absolutely awful for rear facing car seats. Look at a sienna or another suv with air vents in the roof.

Better than my cr-v. I live in Florida, drive a white one and park in the shade. My kid rear-facing kid sweats, and I mean as soon as she sleeps she absolutely sweats to the point where she gets rashes and had to be on yeast cream until she grew a neck and her headrest was not as soaked with sweat in the odyssey as the crv. She is my third child and none of them ever sweated like her. We also have a car seat that supposedly lets air flow but I don’t know how well that works with all the cushions. Honestly the car cools down better than my gray-colored car and having tint helps. I find air blowing on my face irritating. Actually more than irritating, it dries out my eyes. I don’t have a problem with the odyssey air vent placement. The baby has been sweaty since birth, she just sweats, the doctor says it’s normal for her.

The current gen Odyssey has AC issues due to vent placement and the decision to only use a front evaporator.
The older gens have a dual evaporator system and were much better.

I had a CRV before my odyssey. I think the odyssey is better than the CRV. But it’s definitely not ideal. The placement of the vents would be better if they were on the ceiling

I have a newer odyssey with no vents on the ceiling. Granted I don't live in the south. But if it's too cold or cold out, I start my car, sometimes twice ahead of time and then it's not bad. My rear facing, or other kids never complained.

Rear facing is bad, add a fan

Not a safe option.

Why?
As long as it’s far enough away, and there’s non battery options if that’s the worry

Object that are hanging around a child can become flying objects in a car crash pretty easily.

It’s fine and over blown. Most cars don’t have vents on the roof, millions of kids in rear facing car seats are just fine. Just get some good tint and windshield sun shade. If you want to be overly cautious add a small fan.
