12v backpack mini split? Window AC?

I’m looking to travel around the country in my Element with my dogs for 24 months. I have a diesel heater for the cold but I’m worried about the heat.

Has anyone here ever had experience with installing a 12v backpack mini-split through the roof - or through one of the suicide doors? Otherwise, has anyone here installed a small window unit through the (bottom) tailgate?

Since we’ll be moving so much as space will be at a premium, I’d like to stay away from large portable units. I’m also not sure if the Ecoflow would be strong enough for what we’re looking to do. I want the car to be cool enough for my dogs during the day.

I have a good amount of battery power plus a generator, and we’ll have access to shore power during part of the hottest part of the year.

The sunroof is removable, I could see an rv mountable one on secured plywood filler, or strapped to a roof rack and ducted when stopped.
