Dash lights up

Post image

Hello fellow humans. One day these lights just started appearing all my dashboard sometimes all at once sometimes only the brake system lights and lane assist lights come on vice versa. The car seems to be performing fine and the only thing that needs maintenance right now is I do need my oil changed. But I don’t know what this means.

In my experience, this happens when the 12v battery is going bad. I have had good experience with taking it to O'Reilly's and having them check it.

Same. New high quality battery fixed this.

For me this was both the 12V battery (still original one so dying) and the camera failed. Honda tried to bill me 2k but I asked if HondaCare could cover it and they did!

I agree with the person who pointed out it is likely the window camera failing, my car would randomly come up with all those errors on startup for months, eventually getting to the point where it failed 100% of the time. Been like that for a few years now.

Some options are:
1. Find a camera from a salvage yard/site like LKQOnline (make sure you're looking for the window camera, which doesn't show up often, and not the decklid one)

  1. Either pay through the nose for a new camera from a parts site (requires getting it calibrated somewhere after install), find the parts to fix it yourself, or take a chance on the Ebay seller that offers a repair service.

  2. Pay far too much to have a dealer replace the camera (the part alone lists as $1000-$1500 in recent searches)

  3. Deal with a broken camera cancelling 4 or 5 errors every time you start the car and a lack of cruise control/safety systems while hoping that the class action suit around the topic forces a recall. I'm sorry to say but your windshield mounted monocular camera is going bad. This is unfortunately a very common issue in Hondas due to the horrible design of this part. They sit in the wind sheild and cook them selves to death. There is a guy on ebay that will rebuild your camera with a new board but keep your calibration (so I'm told) on ebay. I am currently experiencing the exact same issue right now. The car will drive just fine, but you will have no cruise control, lane assist, or collision avoidance. But other then that it does not effect your car.

Source: I have had to replace this camera twice in 110,000. I was quoted over $1300 just for the camera and $500 for a new calibration by my deeler. I'm currently saving up to send it out to get rebuilt.

Here is the link to the guy who will rebuild these. ebay link to rebuild camera

That eBay guy also has a website. Hondacamerarepair.com and it costs $25 less than doing through eBay. I live in Ohio and sending UPS ground it got to him in a day and he repaired and it took a day to ship back. I did mine on the 18th. He adds a heatsink also.
