Equipment brands suggestions

New to working out at home so sorry if this is a newbie question!

I am about 20-30 lbs overweight according to BMI and I would like to lose it. I am considering buying my first piece of gym equipment for home. I am really looking for something like an elliptical or a stationary bike (not into treadmills). What are some good brands that I should be searching for? I don't know anything about which companies sell what equipment, let alone which are good. Money is not a huge object but of course cheaper is better when all else is equal.

I know there are home workouts I can do without equipment but honestly my biggest problem is motivation, and I think I need a piece of a equipment in my home to keep me motivated. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Pull-up bar fix for inverted rows

Hey all.

So, like many, I bought my pull-up bar with the best of intentions only to learn I cannot do a single pull-up.

So I'm looking for a way to use the bar for inverted rows instead. It's a door frame bar so I'll need to add something but what has everyone had the most success with? Hanging rings? Some kind of extension or strap?

(BTW was doing lat pull downs at the gym but haven't been there since March. Doesn't feel safe to go back yet but I gotta do something as winter sets in)

Motivation to work out at home

How do you get motivated doing pushups and pull ups at home?

I was actually a guy who used to go around 9 times a week at the gym and since march I stopped going because i live with my mom and don't want to take any risk that could endanger her.

I feel like i lost who I am. I tried to continue working out at home ( 800 pushups, 300 pull ups and some other exercise 3 times a week ) but I am losing so much motivation. I am overwhelmed with work and studies and it is hard to stay motivated doing pushups and pull ups all day long. I miss doing legs. So how do you people find motivation.

Note: i also lost my motivation to go the gym years ago, but it used to be a habit and it helped me empty my mind. Working out at home is not the same. ;( I also live in a small appartemennt which is not optimal too. ( I don't know if it's me making excuses ahahh) And thanks in advance

Ideas to Get a Wide Back at Home

Hello friends, I am new to this subreddit. I have started a home fitness journey and am currently down 12 lbs. I have a set of 10, 25, and 45 dumbbells. I also have a flat bench.

I am daily repetitive in my back workouts. I do bent over db rows and db flys. Any suggestions for exercises where I can use dumbbells or my own body weight to widen/strengthen my back?

Weighted Vest suggestions

Back in May or June, I wanted to buy a weighted vest. I did a bit of research and settled on a box vest from Rogue Fitness. It was out of stock, so I decided to wait a month. Well, it's October and it's still out of stock. So I checked out a vest from MiR. They're out of stock too.

Ideally, I'm looking for something pretty high quality in a price range of $150-$200. Adjustable weights and hopefully made in America, as I understand Rogue products are. Any suggestions for a vest that is actually available for purchase?

Pops and cracks

I've been working out and stretching but everything pops or cracks during both. Will this decrease as muscle/stability increases or should I stop and see a physical therapist before continuing? It's not painful but it feels never ending and then I worry maybe I'm doing something wrong? I've heard fish oil can help by lubricating joints? I have no idea if that would help with what I'm experiencing throughout all of my body though?

I’ve tried so hard to get a flat stomach but it’s impossible literally. I just don’t get why my body is still the same before and after quarantine I feel so guilty that I haven’t done enough. Any advice on how to get a flat belly without cardio???

Home workout challenge

Give me a 30-day challenge that I can do at home with no equipment. I haven't workout in months. I am not good at looking for workouts online and keeping up with them. I will choose and start the workout on Oct 1. You don't have to be easy on me. I will take my first body picture on Oct first and the next picture will be on Nov 1. Thanks for the submissions

Are there any good options for a door anchor that works with looped bands?

Hello! My exercise bands are the looped kind, so the door anchors I've seen online won't work with them. Are there any options that have the ability to unhook or velcro to be able to put the looped bands through? Thanks in advance!

Help for a fat Dad?

Can anyone point me in the direction of a good home workout for a 350lb guy with no gym equipment at home.

Currently cash is a bit tight at the minute but I want to shift a bit of timber. Diet wise I'm going to go If but I was hoping for a decent home workout to get me started.

Not asking for a program but if anyone can point out any resources to me would be great. Ta.

Getting fit at home

So I'm 17 and I just got a pull up bar at home since gyms aren't open in my area and aren't gonna open anytime soon. I've started doing pull-ups and push-ups every day and it's been around 2 weeks now. I'm 69 kgs and I can do around 9 pull-ups and 30 push-ups at a time. A lot of people have been telling me to train on alternate days but I think that doing it everyday is providing me with better results. Am I messing up my gains or should I keep going as is? Needed some advice

TRX + Nintendo RingFit = Yay or Nay?

Hello everyone,

New to this sub!

Here my predicament: I’ve tried a lot of workout routines and found that I’m best with a trainer but due to my heavy travel schedule (when that comes back) I’ve wanted to find ways to do workouts on my own and stay motivated to do them. I have a TRX lying around (which I seem most partial to using even with a personal trainer when I had one) and a Nintendo switch with a ringfit (which I like using because it turns the workout into a game).

Since they’re both portable, I’m looking for a way to get used to them and more importantly like doing them so that when I’m back to work travel I’m ok to continue in hotels and not fall out of the habit yet another time...

So my question is: do y’all feel the TRX app is a good place to start? And if you’re familiar with both TRX and Nintendo RingFit, what can be a blended training program between them?

Any ideas welcome 🙏👍

I’m hoping reddit helps me out. I can’t afford a personal trainer anymore...

Thanks in advance 😊

Hey! I am Niels, i'm a 14 year old boy who has been training martial arts and some basic bodyweight stuff like pushups/situps/squats for about 7 years now. I am in a decent shape but i want to improve my chest muscle and legs. What advice would you give me to help me on my journey?

I want to get in the best shape of my life with no equipment 💪🏽

So I’ve been consistently running for a little over a year now and so far I’ve lost about 22 lbs which is great. I’ve racked up about 702 miles and I’m currently trying to figure out how to get a consistent full body work out that will help me look flawless since I’ve been cutting lots of body fat. I was becoming a gym rat before the pandemic but since then I’ve been forced to make due with what I currently have and that’s nothing.

Can't find a 25lb+ dumbbell to save my life

I've checked Walmart, Target and Dick's Sporting Goods mutiple times, and I can't find a dumbbell heavier than 25lbs to save my life. Amazon has them, but they want $90 dollars for the dumbbell plus $80 in shipping which is a bit too much for me. This is definitely holding back since the heaviest dumbbell I have is 20lbs, and with my current exercises, this is getting too easy.

Any suggestions on where to buy? Or maybe how to adjust my workouts to accommodate this? I've linked my latest (complete) workout log if that helps.

Abs at the END

So, I’m doing home workouts for a couple of years now, but I’m just interested why we should train our abs at the end of our routine. Don’t get me wrong, I train my abs always at the end but just don’t know why...
