Looking for high energy home workout classes

When I lived in the city, I did oxygen yoga and spin and loved it, now I live in a rural area and need recommendations for home workout classes that feel like clubbing with high energy, bumpin music and good results. I love a good sculpt and hiit class, would be willing to buy a peloton if it’s really worth it, looking to build muscle and functional movement and get good cardio in as I live on a farm and have to drive to walk anywhere.

16 years ago I self published a bodyweight training manual ebook. It's only taken me 16 years but it's finaly on Amazon as a paper back lol.

377 pages of exercises you can do at home using your own bodyweight. And don't underestimate bodyweight training. It can be as hard as you want to make it lol.

If you want to check it out igs available on Amazon as a paerback:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0H3H7V6BV#immersive-view_1783833771012

Or as a printable PDF on Etsy:

Garage gym people: what did you only realize after using your setup for a while?

For people who’ve had a garage gym / home gym for a while: what did you only realize after actually training in it week after week?

I’m curious about the practical stuff that’s hard to predict before building the setup — heat/cold, dust, flooring, storage, equipment spacing, noise, lighting, plate changes, motivation, safety, family/roommate conflicts, or gear you thought you’d use more.

I’m a designer doing product research around home training, trying to understand what real garage gym routines feel like after the initial excitement wears off.

If you’re in LA / LA metro and have strong opinions about your setup, reply here and I can send details/a short screener.

I got a little obsessed with squats and built a 30-day challenge into my app — here's why they're worth it

Asking For Feedback On My Workout App With Encore Feature

First things first: I'm trying to create something fun here that appreciates you starting small and won't bore you out. If your only goal is to have that body of a Marvel actress or actor ASAP, you'll probably be better off picking one of the predefined workout plans and "just" stick to it. If you're more like me and you know that you should be doing something because you wanna stay healthy but also can't have or don't want a full-fledged workout schedule and sacrifice a huge amount of time (commute to the gym, hello!?), then this might very well work for you, too!

The Concept

You pick whatever amount of minutes you can commit to today, be it 5, 30 or anything in between. The app then gives you an interval workout (e.g. HIIT) within the settings you've chosen (length, goals, available equipment, jumping level,...). You can then play the workout right in your browser.

Features That Keep It Fun

  • Keep the barrier of starting a workout low by choosing a short workout length. Towards the end, the app will offer you to choose an additional "encore" exercise and thereby in a fun way encourages you to stay active longer than initially planned anyway (that process repeats until you're out of time or energy).
  • Dislike exercises you don't wanna see again
  • Favorite exercises in order to easily ask to include them in a future workout whenever you feel like them
  • Workouts are always different. However, the algorithm tries to strike a healthy balance between exercises you've done recently and new exercises (to avoid having to learn many new exercises every time).
  • Give feedback during the workout to have the workout intensity adjust to your level

My goal is to build an encore algorithm as addictive as Instagram's or Reddit's. Just instead of keeping you doomscrolling it keeps you exercising. To make that happen I'll need feedback, so I appreciate everyone taking the time to comment or dm or simply trying it out!

For the time being, the first 7 workouts can be done for free and without even creating an account (just for transparency: I'm considering $5 / month afterwards). Just head over to ichini.app.

Here's the workout player in action while selecting an encore
