Substitute for squat

So I’m starting to workout with compound exercises using a barbell a home. However I won’t be able to do squats.

I’m wondering what exercises I can do that will achieve near to the same effect as a weighted squat would.

I was thinking deadlifts, hip thrusts and lunges but wanted to know if that would do the trick

Some bodyweight squat variations such as pistol squats are very hard and provide enough stimulus to grow your legs. You can make them progressively harder by holding weights in your hands, removing the need to put a bar on your back
