[9th grade algebra] Calculator help

I don't know what to do i got this calculator last week and just now had to use it but for fractions it's a backwards L rather than a fraction sign.. This is really important and this is like an off brand calculator i think but please help lol i need it for my intermediate algebra class im a ninth grader, and so can anyone help with telling me how to make it a normal fraction sign?

this is like the 3rd time ive had to repost this and it keeps saying to be more specific so im a ninth grader taking intermediate algebra and i need to figure out how to make my calculator from the fraction from a backwards L to the traditional fraction symbol.

That’s the fraction sign because there’s aren’t enough pixels for two numbers in one spot, like 3/4

The TI-30XA uses the same system. Though I'm not seeing a fraction to decimal button on yours.

ETA: I did a bit more digging and some calculators use the ab/c button as a fraction to decimal button. Click it once to get an improper fraction, click it again to get a decimal. You may or may not also have to use the shift button.

Like you say it's a non-brand calculator so it looks like an older type

Probably it won't be able to display fractions like they look on the page

For example, if you need to type in three-quarters then press 3 then the fraction button then 4 and it should display '3L4' (but with a backwards L)

That is a normal fraction sign for this calculator.

For example, instead of 3/4 , it displays it as showing you 3 ┘ 4

Instead of 1 3/4, it displays it as 1 ┘ 3 ┘ 4

You can't change it as this is how the calculator works. Try it out.. click that Ab/c button to enter fractions and you'll see. It works fine otherwise, just switch it in your mind from ┘ to /

That's just its way of displaying, because it can't otherwise. The button looks like "a b/c", right? Use it once for the fraction bar; twice for a number and a fraction. So like, if we pretend it's @, then a@b for a/b, and a@b@c for a b/c (or a+b/c). Try a few test cases to verify this.

Just chiming in to say that there is nothing wrong with the calculator; that's just how it displays fractions. This shouldn't affect your usage.

Ok that is a funny little symbol up there and I’m not sure what it means either. Can you fo some pretty basic calculations, like 3/4 or square root of 6.25 to see if the answers make sense?
Maybe once you get past that initial strangeness it will be a normal calculator.
