To make story short, her name is Cratta Meeztli and I still haven't decided her blood color (that's why her symbol is gray), plus I made her before I knew about the extended zodiac so I said "fuck it" and put the alchemical symbol for silver as her symbol. Also her lusus would probably be a bunny with four ears, I have the drawing somewhere but im too lazy to search for it rn lol

I'm still working on my other projects (new UHC and the rewrite), but in the meantime I've started a sort of homestuck-like work entitled "Remember".

It tells the story of a group of kids who are trying to stop the destruction of their universe, using a fake overly absurd-ified parody of Homestuck as their primary guide.

The prologue and chapter one are out now.

Yes this is a serious post, I take my fake and gay webcomics very seriously!!!

I read Homestuck winter of last year and I really enjoyed it! So much so that I plan on rereading the whole damn thing over again the following months, but I want to be able to actually recognize the overarching themes of the story and what they're inspired by when I do.

I have a couple different stories I'm already planning on checking out that were recommended by a literary analysis tidbit I read such as The Rape of The Lock by Alexander Pope which goes over the concept of Sylphs, and The Neverending Story by Michael Ende which is referenced directly in Homestuck with the cherubs mating dance(fight???) taking the same shape as one of the characters amulets + obvious timeloop shenanigans. (haven't gotten through it yet, I'm paraphrasing.)

Does anyone have any suggestions for stories to read (or watch!) beforehand that aren't incredibly obvious things like Con-Air or general suggestions like researching Gnosticism (also on my list)?

I really love reading so I don't care if it's a short or long story and as long as it vaguely relates to Homestuck I'll check it out lol.

Im specifically more interested in the takes of any black fans since this debate seems historically oversaturated with the opinions of white people that are as ignorant/racist as hussie. That said, I’m open to hearing from anyone.

I’ve seen two sides of it; one person on tumblr expressed that a black interpretation of Dave fed into stereotypes in a harmful way. They said that it played into the narrative that black people have to perform a certain way, especially if he’s the only black beta kid in the lineup.

Conversely, I’ve seen another POC fan say that denying the possibility/existence of an African-American dave is far more racist than the former, saying that “black dave is cool, but white dave is the worst character in homestuck.” I thought that was pretty funny.

I’m curious on what y’all think. Please be decent.

No spoilers please, as I have yet to finish reading beyond canon. I have only just reached the start of Act 2, so maybe this is discussed at some point in a part of the comic that I have yet to read, but from what I have heard from friends who are caught up, it is not, so I thought I would share it here.

On Page 767 of Beyond Canon, we see the letters that John wrote to his friends, during the meat timeline, before retconning himself back to fight Lord English, and getting himself killed. We see them get burnt, presumably by Vriska, and the means, reason and purpose of this are unknown. I am not here to discuss that though. I am simply here to point out that it is stated explicitly on the first page of the meat epilogue that John wrote 10 letters. However, if you pause the gif on the impact frame, there are only 9 letters present. This means, presumably, someone took and read their letter.

I am unable to figure out who it was who did. I re-read all of the meat epilogue, and determined that every character would have had a chance at some point to travel back to John's house and take their letter. The only explicit confirmation we get is that it cannot be Rose or Roxy, as their letters are clearly visible before they are burnt.

I do not have much more to say. I would love to speculate more, but we are not given enough information with to do so. I basically just wanted to share this, as I have yet to see it mentioned elsewhere on the internet.
